Some background: I admit I wasn't sure what to expect when I loaded up my HD with a Sputnik blade from Mother Russia. I'd read varying reviews on the internet. Some said Sputniks are great and others considered them cheap and ineffective. I'm going on record to say that, for me, these little blades are a treat. For comparison, I have dark, coarse facial hair and I usually use an HD/Derby Extra combo for consistently good results. I've also used Feathers, Crystals, Merkurs, Sharps, Astras...

Walgreens Double Edge Stainless Steel Blades 10.0 ea. Price $5.49 I picked these DE Blades from Walgreens when my new razor came in. I wasn't so sure about the Walgreens brand but it's all they had. I was very pleased with the quality. I have nothing to compare these blades to, but for my first shave with a DE razor I wasn't disappointed. The blades were very smooth on my face and im still using the same blade after a week with the same results. Walgreens is very proud of these blades...
These are not the Swedish Gillette blades. I believe these are made by Procter and Gamble in the UK. they are available in pretty much any local pharmacy (except Boots) at around £1 for 5 blades. They come in the standard Gillette dispenser, which allows easy access without any wrappers, and a place to store the used blades underneith the dispenser. These blades are great, and in fact, I actually prefer these to Swedish Gs. They are quite smooth, and sharp. A little like Derby blades...

I tested these blades straight after using Merkur blades for a month. And I must say, these are way smoother and more forgiving. Price: the cheapest around  Quality: performs very well for the first two time, but looses sharpness afterwards Sharpness: almost as sharp as the Merkur blades, but way smoother and forgiving - no nicks or irritation for the first two shaves Longevity: as mentioned before, the good performance lasts for two shaves, after the third shave minor...

I was visiting in-laws recently and ran across these in the Family Dollary store. Thery were $1 for a 5-pack. I figured that I couldn't go wrong for a dollar; I was right! The thing that caught my eye was the small "Made in Israel" sticker on the back of the pack. A closer examination showed an American Safety Razor trademark. The blades have nothing on them except the dispense direction arrows. Today, I had my fourth shave with the first blade. I find the blade to be sharp and smooth. I...
So far these blades seem really smooth for me. I could use these everyday and not look back. They're not the cheapest blades I've used, but I do get a decent shave.

These are the blades that come in the basic WestCoastShaving sampler pack. I was surprised nobody else has reviewed them. Bear with me, as this is my first review that I have started. As a disclaimer, the only other blade I have used is the Merkur. I use them in a Merkur Classic. I just loaded this one up this morning and used it with my C&E Nomad sc. To start off with, I have been having some trouble getting a good lather with the Nomad, so the first pass was not that good, and I will have...

For evaluation purposes, I tried these blades with Merkur HD, Merkur LH, and Merkur Slant Bar razors. Throughout testing, I rotated between various high-end creams and soaps and also used 4 different brushes (Rooney, Shavemac, & 2 different Simpson’s). All products and equipment used are items that I am highly familiar/experienced with and items that deliver consistently excellent results. As a bit of background on the blades I’ve used, for a brief time I served as a blade tester for an...

Price: the cheapest retail blade that I know of; you can spend less but you'll have to buy blades by the hundreds. Quality: the blades all looked very good, the finish level is on par with much more expensive blades and much better than the crappy look of some other popular brands. Having used only one blade, I can't really comment on consistency of performance across different blades or packages. Sharpness: at least as sharp, and maybe a little sharper, than a Swedish G. I have tried most...
Overall, I'd say I'd rate all 3 blades the same, as they are all about equally sharp, quality is the same, etc. Professional = Very sharp blades, but personally I am not as fond of the pro's as I am the super pro's, or the pro guards, as I tend to get the most irritation/nicks/weepers with the standard pro blades. I have a very thick/tough beard, and the pro's are just too flexible for me personally. Super Pro = Scary sharp and VERY robust. My personal favorites, as they shave smooth...

Worst blade ever. If you care about your face, avoid this blade. Extremely dull and very uncomfortable. Useful for cutting some papers, but not facial hair. Terrible. I got them for free so the price was great...otherwise they were horrible. I am throwing away the other two I got.

These blades last for a long time, are very sharp, and provide a very smooth shave. I received them as a sample pack from suffolksupplies, and have enjoyed them very much so far. I'll break the ratings down by category: Price: I got these for free, so the price was good for me. However, as suffolksupplies is the only place I know how to get them, I will rate the price according to what he charges for them. For a pack of 100 blades you can get them for about $32, shipped to the US...
A Friend got me these the other day. I had not seen a review of them so posted on the forum if anyone had heard of them. A few had but only one other person had used them so I thought I would turn B&B guinea pig! I must preface this review by saying I am a newbie and have only tried Merkurs up to this point, I am to sort that out soon by ordering a sample pack of letterk. So please be aware this review is based on a comparison of only the Merkurs! Having said that I have shaved with...

These blades have cropped up on B&B from time to time, and have been discussed here. In assessing them, I should defer to the judgment of those who have been using these blades for longer than I have (or will), so read this review with the caveat that I have only used this blade three times: twice in a 1949 Super Speed, once in a Merkur Progress. Please also note that the picture is a stock photo; the packs I have are slightly less green and do not come with two free blades. The place...
I admit that ever since 'discovering' proper wet-shaving with a safety razor and a badger brush/shave cream/Moss Scuttle, I've been a sucker for picking up packets of blades just to give them a test. The funny thing, though, is that the more expensive the blades, the more useless they seem to be:biggrin: I was in a local pharmacy, and spotted these blades which I had heard were positively dreadful. IIRC I paid about $11CAD for them. I had previously paid about $15USD for 100 Israeli...
I started searching for good affordable blade since I bought my Merkur progress last year. I have tried Wilkinson Sword Classic, Merkur, Tesco, Personna & Gillette Platinum but Nacet for me are the best. They last as long & with the quality of Merkur, but provide a really smooth shave. There also sharp & work really well with my adjustable razor. The packaging is a bit old fashioned & they are quite hard to find. I found them through ebay from suffolksupplies.
Ahh....my first taste of DE. How sweet it is. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for this giant mega-corporation of shaving world domination, being manufactured by a giant faceless nameless Chinese mega subsidiary. "Developing" nations seem to have a loose grasp of conservation and as such, do not use the products that we use in the same way, or for the same reasons. Enter the gillette rubie DE blade. My first experience for this blade was getting a haircut and one of these was used...

I keep trying the Walmart blades because it would be so convenient if I liked them. They are very cheap, easy to obtain, and come in an efficient and attractive package. But, alas, they just don't give me even a half decent shave. Partly because I have curly hair (bordering on kinky) with a complicated growth pattern, I have two sensitive spots: my neck is prone to irritation, and the space between my lower lip and chin is hard to get smooth. With a really good blade (Derby, Israeli, Swede)...

I find it hard to believe no one has reviewed these. I have had the pleasure of using and have had a good experience with them. The first time was a bit rough but I think it was a bad blade because the other ones I used were just great! Price is a bit steep and they are hard to get. I find them to be sharp but not the sharpest out their. Packaging is not much just a dispenser and the blades say Gillette on them that is it. The rest gets a 10 in my book. Longevity lasted a...
I saw these blades a few weeks ago and was put off from buying them because of the price - 'Surely something that cheap can't be very good' I thought. Well, I was visiting the same shop (Wilkinsons supermarket, UK) and saw them again. This time I was definately going home with a pack (and a spare pack to distribute to B&B members), and not letting my feeling rule my head. Besides, I had to be the 'guinea pig' to try them as noone else had yet reviewed them. So, first glance, they look OK -...
