I cant believe no one has reviewed this soap yet. This is the fourth soap I have tried and I have to say I am pretty impressed. It lathers up very nicely with little effort. You dont need to have a good technique to get a good shave out of this soap. Excellent soap with a price to match. Can be found at many eckerds and rite aids for around 2.00 a puck. Also it melts in the microwave so you can pour it to fit into your mug. I think that this soap is ideal for beginners and is a much...

Somebody recently posted a thread asking about this soap because there was no review for it. I was surprised by that, and thought I would try to do this soap justice. As you can tell by my ratings, I really like this soap. It was not love at first smell, though. My first foray into the world of wet shaving was with the C&E Sweet Almond Oil cream, and I was hooked. I found a C&E outlet store locally that sold tubes of the Nomad cream for only $5, and picked up one of these, and didn't mind...

I started wetshaving with a tube of Proraso, and the whole line of Col Conks soaps (I think this should be everyones starter kit). The soap performs like the others in Col Conks line, however, I wasn't a fan of the scent. The lime was neither a delicious food scent, or a tantilizing bouquet of aromas. It was....well as expected....just lime. And a dull lime at that. Kind of like Mountain Dew. If you are a lime fan, then I am sure it will fit the bill. Don't hesitate to try it, as...

I've tried several glycerin and triple milled soaps and this is the best yet. It's extremely easy to get tons of great lather, and protects the face well when shaving. Here's the breakdown: Price: $40 for a soap with bowl or $22 for the refill. This is inline with the pricier English soaps such as T&H and GFT. Not exactly cheap but it will last you for many months of daily shaving. Quality: Everything from the packaging, the bowl and the soap itself is only of the highest quality...
Here is an image of QED Violetta from the Score post announcing its arrival. 102 Tubs were produced for this special B&B group buy. Comments on this product: This soap shaves very well, in line with the other QED soaps I've tried. I didn't have any reactions to Violetta. Some report reactions to various QED scents due to the very generous additions of essential or fragrance oils (Violetta is FO based). I droped the Quality rating a bit as there was some significant variation in...

This review is for the Marlborough shave soap from D.R. Harris. It is with great enthusiasm that I write this review. I bought this soap from Shaving Essentials approximately six months ago. They special ordered it for me since the mahogany bowl is not common among those who stock Harris products. I was hooked from the moment I opened the shipping box. The soap's packaging has an old world look to it and the mahogany bowl has a stunning grain. It is a very understated and classy...
This Dolce & Gabbana wannabe "America" is better than the original. It's one of the clenaest scented shave soaps I have used. It lather's like crazy and is more subtle than the Dolce & Gabbana EDT. I think thats a great thing because it won't interfere with any balms, witch hazels or after shaves you follow it up with. This scent would make a great aftershave balm as a follow up. For me, I shaved with America, then followed it up with a Thayer's Rose wash, a Barclay Crocker after shave balm...
This soap is a well-priced, solid performer and is a good choice for any gentleman sniffin' for a crisp clean pine scent. The Pros of this soap are as follows: The pine scent is cool and refreshing. At $5, it is a good value. Leaves skin feeling great. Made in England since 1890. The Cons are as follows: The size of the soap is smaller than that of standard shaving soaps and thus does not sit well in my shaving mug. Lather is thin and not creamy (this is partly due to not sitting well...
I received this as a prize in the chat room a few weeks ago (you all remember Nick's (Pappasmurf) Penhaligon English Fern Soap give away). I cleared writing this with Joel and he will not be commenting on it or answering questions, so maybe this won't go out of control. It arrived well sealed with instructions on how to use it and what to expect. Upon opening the scent was heavenly. The spearmint used was "first flush Moroccan shade-grown Spearmint" and has a wonderful, long lasting...

I don't know if others use this soap, but it is absolutely fabulous. I have been experimenting with other companies shave soap, but always have to go back to my van der Hagen Glycerin soap. It is no joke regarding being hypo-allergenic and non-irritating. I don't think I have especially sensitive skin (I still have not found a shave cream that irritated my skin), but it seems other companies shave soaps give me irritation. Williams was another exception, but it does not lubricate enough...

Widely available in the UK, cheap and long lasting. Comes in a sturdy plastic case which is very good for travelling. Price: Can't remember exactly how much I paid but it was peanuts. Quality: Fair quality product, for the price exceptional. Scent: Very light, clean scent, seems slightly citrusy to me. I like it. Lather: Not quite the quality of top end soaps/creams but at a fraction of the price you can't really expect that. Lathers quickly and easily, gave a good shave, seems...
I recently did a Google search on hard shaving soaps in order to find a new "boutique" shaving soap. I found the Canyon Creek Shaving Company online and ordered two pucks of shaving soap; one Vetyver (made with synthetic fragrance oil) and one Lavender (made with natural essential oil). I have used the Vetyver for over a week and I haven't yet tried the Lavendar. The Vetyver has become my favorite shaving lather, be it soap or cream. Price: $4.50 per 3.5 to 4.0 oz. puck plus $6 shipping...
I bought a few of her soaps and while not too strong and fairly moisturizing, I had some problems with certain scents giving me a burning sensation. I went ahead and have been using these soaps as bath soaps, and they are really nice. I just have too many other great soaps in my rotation to worry about any soaps giving me any irritation. If you are looking for a good soap, and want to try new scents, I'd say go ahead and try these. Ethel sells smaller soaps (~1 oz) that are relatively...
This was the first soap that I purchased since moving into the DE world. Price: Decent price price for Taylor's. Only $14.95 from Bestgroomingtools.com Quality: Since using other soaps such as T&H, C&E, etc. I would say that Taylor's ranks among the best. Scent: Nothing negative here. If you love the smell of Lavender as I do then this soap is for you. As soon as you open the box you will be overwelmed by the smell of sweet Lavender. The good thing is, is even though the...
Lovely stuff, the sweet scent is delightful first thing in the morning, gives me an appetite for breakfast. Somehow despite the sweetness it doesn't smell feminine, despite the Amaretto association. Trumpers are wizards with the fragrances. It lathers up as rich as you like, a smooth, creamy lather that doesn't dry out while you strop the razor. Provides excellent lubrication and beard softening for a really smooth shave, leaves the skin feeling really good, noticably really good. Maybe one...
Since I am the first to review this product, I will try to be as thorough as others have. I received this product, along with the matching shower gel and AS milk, as part of a prize from winning an email contest that Sue ran. It is the first of her products that I have tried, but it will not be the last. Price: It was free! I got just a refill puck, not in a bowl, but generally I don't buy the bowls. I have some cheap plastic ones that I pick up from the container store. Quality: It was...

First, I have to say I am not the world's best lather builder with soap. I do pretty good when presented with excellent quality soap, but otherwise my results vary. This is a great smelling soap. I bought because of the 100% natural ingredients and because of the spicy smell. It has a strong, clean scent that left my whole bathroom smelling like it with it just sitting in there for 10 hours. Price $8. Can't beat that. Quality Based on the ingredients this is great quality stuff...

I tried a Floris shaving soap (Floris No. 89 to be exact) for the first time this last week and I must say I am very impressed. My first attempt introduced me to a slight difference in building a lather with this soap, but failing all else I read the instructions which called for much less water. And when re-lathering to "touch the tips of the brush to the water and continue on the face" not to re-wet or rinse the face. I normally build a the lather in a scuttle and rinse between passes...

I read all the forums old posts about this soap and then tried the new formulation. The new formulation is a shea butter based, opaque, meltable, glycerin soap that makes loads of slick lather. As one who normally (by personal preference) makes "Superlather" I purposed to make traditional lather here (no cream supplement) with my lowest quality (C&E EJ) Badger Brush. Not that the C&E is a "Low" quality, but I do have better. First Look Upon first inspection, I found the puck to...

TOLD YOU !! I saw that one coming (after seeing the Green Tea and Aloe foam on the shelves), and hopefully, they also make the cream. :w00t: It's for very sensitive skin, and does not not have camphor and eucalyptus,(and has just a bit of menthol) Bought it 1 hour ago (just a trip to a drugstore, took me 5 minutes, hehe :ihih: ), tried it and love it. Scent : the scent is similar as the Eshave White Tea cream, but not as strong. :001_tt1: Performance : great; slick and soothing...
