I'm surprised nobody has reviewed this excellent product before... I was really surprised when I used this soap. I mean, come on, it is soap. It's supposed to be drying, right? Not this soap. The Shea Butter really keeps your skin moist throughout the shave. I was impressed. Once I got the proportions right, (which didn't take much doing), it lathered up nicely, easily and quickly for me. I thought I got a very nice close smooth shave from an excellent product. I cannot...

I had seen this brand, but never tried it. So why not. It lathered alot better than William's but it does not leave the face as soft as William's. The price is a little bit more thatn William's price, but the size of the soap is larger, though it seemed to go faster. It took a little while longer than William's to lather, but when you finished, the lather was much better. I loved the feel of a new cake in the my hand. Inexpensive. Found almost at any drugstore in the states. The box is green...
Price 20£/40$ for 200ml is pricey, but being a soap it should last a while. Quality overall a well-made middle-class shaving soap, nothing wrong here. Scent The scent of the fougere-soap is a bit faint, but it's noticable and quite nice. It'll be gone within a few minutes after shaving so it doesn't interfere with your cologne. Lather While it's not as thick as the lather you get from many top-notch cream out there, its consistency is about the same as you get with most of the...
I received this soap as a gift this week, and I'm very impressed by it. The brand is no longer in existence, and it's too bad, because it performs so well. It gives a great lather, smells nice and clean, and offers good skincare. Definitely a soap I'd buy again if it was still around. Jeff
I first ran into Colleen Hurley just over a year ago at Straight Edge Razors. She is a soapmaker and was interested in restoring straight razors. Soon, she was an active member at SRP and sending me soap samples to shave with. After a few misses, she started knocking home runs! So far, Desert Ironwood is my favorite, but I haven't found a bad one in the bunch! Price: TGQ soaps are priced competitively (I don't have the current price list) and I paid $5.95 for my 3 oz rounds. You can...
I used Old Spice shaving soap in the well-known bowl with the fishing schooner many years ago, unfortunately, it's no longer made. The other day, I received a Mama Bear soap as a gift which has the EXACT same scent and lather, and gives the EXACT same kind of lovely shave. This stuff is dynamite, and unlike some other soaps which I tried, I get no adverse reactions on my skin at all whatsoever. Great stuff, I highly recommend it to any Old Spice lover. Jeff
I bought this soap off Ebay on a whim just because I was curious. I couldn't resist. In short, I like it alot. I got the refill because I don't care for the bowl sets. It fits perfectly in an Old Spice shaving mug (small size, upside down). The refill comes in a plain-jane wrapper...nothing special...but delivery from across the pond was quick. The S&H costs as much as the soap, which I expected!!! If you like a clean, soapy smell that is triple milled, this might be a soap to check out. My...
Everything that I expected... great lather, great shave, fantastic scent! In my own words, it's a very refreshing and clean smelling sandalwood... not smoky, or musky, like the incense. Very impressive! It's a soap that I can recommend very highly! Well done, MB!! :thumbup1: chop-chop
My synopsis really says it all. It's a soap that I can recommend very highly! :thumbup1: chop-chop
Ok. Someone on SRP put me on this stuff to try it out. I did and really loved it. TAGMSC recently renewed their recipy and gave me a puck to try out. It has improved quite a bit. Scent. sweet, soft and subtle. Very very nice. If I can find a lasting cologne in this scent I will. the matching aftershave balm is pretty good but the scent fades VERY fast as well. Feeling. I get amazing shaves with this soap whenever i try it. hardly any blood and my skin feels awesome. I relather my...
just got this soap in one of my orders. let me tell ya, wow wow we. the smell is great, the shave is better, and, oh yeah the smell is great. may be my new favorite. higly suggest getting this soap as this fragrance can match well with most colognes.
Another gift among MANY others I received a couple of weeks ago, this glycerin based soap also would remind a shaver of Col. Conk soaps, but the performance is even better, with very good moisturization. Jeff
I bought this soap at a department store recently, and I must say that the price I paid sort of left me feeling a bit worried, because I got shafted a few times by some other pricey brands. This soap however, delivers very well in terms of scent, which is fresh and lemony, and lather and overall performance. The moisturization needs just a bit more in the way of fine tuning, otherwise it's a great shave soap! :thumbup1: Jeff
Diehl's Shave Soap- Natural This was a gift from my B&B secret Santa- I have enjoyed this soap very much. The soap contains; vegetable oils, glycerin, water, vitamin E, emulsifier and fragrance. I find the lather to be unscented. This soap provides a good no nonsense shave, does not cause any skin reactions and does not dry out my face. Making lather is fast and easy with no fuss. The lather provides good cushion and very good lubrication/slip. I can get a good close shave with no...
Another winner from Mama Bear. Notes of cocoa, cardimon, coffee, maybe a touch of honey, (see Mama's site for a full description) make for a great, complex scent which lingers a bit post-shave. Note that this is not a smack-you-in-the-face just ground coffee scent as you might expect. Way more subtle and complex than that. The scent is not as strong as other MB offerings that I've tried, but these notes call for less intensity, IMHO. In short, a great shave with no irritation and as an added...
Price: It's pretty hard to beat $6 for a 3oz. cake. Quality: Tastefullyl wrapped soap rounds with a classy embossed gold sticker to hold it all together. Obviously homemade, but very much upscale, Colleen's obviously put a lot of thought into this product. In fact, there's a massive thread over at SRP where she's been painstakingly welcoming and even soliciting very public criticism in order to perfect her products to this point. Absolutely top-notch. Scent: Incredible. I don't...
Apparently, this brand which is made in Holland is very cheap, but it performs really nicely. It's got rich, slick lather to it, as well as a pleasant, clean scent, and it leaves the skin feeling soft, and well moisturized. I recieved it as a gift, along with a HUGE amount of other goodies this week from a very dear friend in this group!!  Jeff

All I can say about this soap is wow, it's just lovely! A classy, subtle, yet noticeable scent, a rich, full lather, and great, soothing skincare. I truly believe this brand can kick even Tabac's butt! I feel awful it's not available in North America, because if it were, it would be at the top of the top sellers!  In Dutch, De Vergulde Hand means the Gilded Hand--in other words, this soap is GOLD!!!!!! Jeff
Rather than basically duplicate my Dragon's Blood post, I'll just add on a mini review here. Yesterday and today I tried Mama Bear's "Energy" and "Smokin'" and again will note they are wonderful scents which linger a bit post-shave. Of the three I've tried, I like energy the least only becuase I experienced some skin irritation after I applied it and before shaving (a not-subtle burning sensation on my neck). My skin can be sensitive, so YMMV. This scent is probably best for spring/summer...

Boots is a well-known pharmacy chain in England, which has been around for many years, and sells their own brand of shaving stuff, as well as fragrances and I believe cosmetics. On Friday, I received a shaving soap in a nice black bowl from a gentleman in this group, and today, I gave it the test. I loaded a new Sharp blade in my Merkur Vision, had a nice hot shower, then after rewetting my face with hot water, and wetting my brush, I began swirling it in the soap bowl, and I was given some...
