Shark Week shave number two for me today. Shark Super Stainless again and another great shave. No blood today. This blade came out of a different tuck of Shark Super Stainless blades that I have used in the past. Maybe the old tuck was a bit of a dud as they started off harsh but smoothed out. This blade is good so far.

I only realised that it was Shark Week yesterday and I had already shaved, so today I give you my first SW2022 Shave.

Shark Super Stainless Blade in an Unknown French Flip Plate Bakelite razor which I've dubbed "Rasoir a plaque inversee"

A local Soap called Reitzers Perfect Shave soap.

That Darn Rob with a Tux

If anyone knows what the razor is, let us know...

First pass went great! Second pass I caught two small weepers on my chin, which had closed by the time that I had finished so not much blood in the water.

Starting the week a bit late but here is my setup.
Grafco Psycho razor
Vintage Shark Razor Blade
The rest does not seam that important.
I will be locking the key in safe with a time lock that will not be abled to open until 8/01.
I hope I survive the rest of the week.
Those vintage Shark blades are very thick and heavy compared to the average DE blade. They weigh .93 grams as opposed to blades that are currently available, which weigh in at .56 grams. They are also made of surgical steel, which has more carbon in it than stainless, so they're definitely prone to corrosion.

I tried one of those blades about a month ago, and let's just say, it didn't go well. I did manage one pass before discarding it, but it was not pleasant. The thought that came to mind - "We're gonna need a bigger styptic pencil!" :)

I like your psycho razor. Back in the 1980s I was working at a Super Max Prison facility where this type of razor was used on a daily basis - though they were Gillette and not Grafco if I recall correctly.

The procedure was as follows: I would have the inmate place his hands through a slot in his cell door (the slot is called a 'trap') so that he could be handcuffed. I would then walk the inmate to the shower area and attach a leg iron to one of his ankles and the other end I would secure to a metal pipe. I would then remove the handcuffs and the inmate would be given his soap and razor (which I had preloaded prior to entering the module), at which time I would signal for the water to be turned on.

When the individual was finished, I would retrieve the razor, handcuff the inmate, remove the leg irons, then place him back in his cell. Fun times had by all! :yikes:

I was kind of thinking this blade would not go beyond three, but today’s shave was smooth and comfortable. Inspired by old techniques discussed in another thread I went back to my trusted Gillette Slide and Slant strokes. I could have stopped at two passes so decided to do the third pass as a sort of touch up. I also changed the order of my passes and did WXTG, ATG and XTG. Worked pretty well. The Fatip gives this blade the right clamping I guess. But then again there is nothing a Fatip cannot do (don’t answer that! 🙄).

SHARK WEEK SHAVE #2
Open Comb razor: Gillette Sheraton (1937)

20220725_141614-01.jpeg

I'm catching up with yesterday's late evening shave. The 1937 Sheraton pictured was included in @Curly Straight 's uber generous PIF package, which I received only last week.

Yesterday's shave surprisingly lacked the shaving comfort I had expected, since the Sheraton is reputated to be a smooth razor. So I blame the blade 😉

Two tugging passes, wtg/atg. I needed some extra buffing on my chin and on my jaw line to mow down my stubble completely. However, the shaving result was flawless.

No blood in the water and an almost BBS result.

I hope you enjoyed your Sharky Monday!

Pretty smooth and effortless shave. The Platinum is a solid shaver if perhaps a notch less sharp than a few of my favorites. In my mild SLOC it just takes care of business with a few more seconds of buffing required. I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest this blade for people who don’t need super sharp blades.

Shark Platinum blade #1, shave #2

Razor: Henson AL13 Mild
Cream: Proraso Green
Brush: Taconic Synthetic
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Another truly marvelous shave. I had never shaved with a Shark Platinum before 2 days ago (every other day shaver here), but I swear that when I went to shave today that I had less stubble than usual. Again, a wonderful shave with zero irritation, nicks, weepers. Heck, not even much feedback from the AV Ice Blue.

After two shaves, no blood in the water yet. Really happy with the way that Shark Week has started.

Soap Yaqi PinaColada Chillers
Brush SOC Cherry Wood Boar
Brush Karve Brass OC-D
Blade JAWS Platinum 2nd
Aftershave Yaqi PinaColada Chillers Splash
This soap scent is quite nice but the high mentholated sensation is most memorable and matched with the super cold splash...perfect for the hot humid day ahead...
Another uneventful shave with the razor and blade combination. 3passes without any issues for a bbs-dfs finish...no blood this morning...

Shark Week Shave #2 in the books!

48 hour dwell

Proraso red Preshave
Stirling Electric Sheep (sample)
Zentith Boar brush
GC 68 SB
Shark SS (2)
Aqua Velva

No blood, but not the best blade feel ever. Limited sting from the AV too. Maybe it's the preshave? Or my impeccable technique!
