What's new

Safety Razor Acquisition Thread.

Thank you for posting, Trey. :001_cool:

Yep, the cap on my original beater RFB (below) has the shorter locating fins and the center crease, just like @Swingboy8's. Using that cap, alignment is perfect.

I guess we all have our own lingo for razor parts. Your "posts" are my "locating pins" (or bullets) on Old Types and "locating fins" on NEWs.

Here's my "beater" which shaves just as brilliantly as my (previously) unused 1939 RFB, and needs no alignment adjustment:

Interesting. I guess there was some variation in these. Both versions seem “correct” to me.

My new to me ‘34-‘37 Aristrocrat It was crusty and I thought it had a cracked tooth, but once I cleaned it up, no crack!!! It was very rough opening and closing and had a squeak. After cleaning, I oiled it up with mineral oil and it no longer squeaks and it has smoothed out. Should have got some before pictures!

What’s all this “beater talk”. Shame on you gentlemen-

that’s barely broken in

🤣🤣🤣

The Baron of Bokeh
Acquired a RazoRock Aluminum Lupo. First two shaves were great with a Voshkod, third shave was a lot of tugging. I wouldn’t think the blade is dull after just two shaves (6 passes). Has anyone else had this issue with the razor? Maybe my angle is off. Being so light does it need a touch of pressure? I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

Just got from USA some razors that were in my wish list for a time.

Could not resist to add one more Red Tip to collection.

Congrats. The GC 84 was my go-to razor for a long time. That's a fine looking red tip.
