Yep, the cap on my original beater RFB (below) has the shorter locating fins and the center crease, just like @Swingboy8's. Using that cap, alignment is perfect.
I guess we all have our own lingo for razor parts. Your "posts" are my "locating pins" (or bullets) on Old Types and "locating fins" on NEWs.
Here's my "beater" which shaves just as brilliantly as my (previously) unused 1939 RFB, and needs no alignment adjustment:
