Gillette NEW razors

Gillette has made some very nice vintage razors and I find the Gillette NEW to be my favorite.
I haven’t seen much talk lately about the “Gillette NEW” razors so I wanted to say just how good they are and how much I love my Gillette NEW LC from 1929 – 1932.
I had mine nickel plated and it looks great. It gives me a nice close shave with no irritation. These are a great buy if you can find them. And they don’t cost much either, usually around $30.00. They are worth a try and if you haven’t you might want to give one a try.

I like all my news, most of mine are long combs are great.I will say my new deluxe is more on the aggressive side definitely not an everyday shaver.
The New Improved is even more blade forward than the New Deluxe.

I find the LC New and the SC New to be pretty similar in terms of shave feel and shave quality, but I know a lot of people have a clear favorite when it comes to these two razors.

NEW love!!!! There can never be enough!:c15:

My take.

1. English Flat Bottom New - is my all time favorite NEW. I like mine these days with a Tech fat handle. The FB New handle that is similar in shape (although I believe slightly narrower) than the RFB # 77/88 is, to me, a little too narrow for my hands these days.

I'm currently on the lookout to bind a biased (offset) pin version of the FB, as I had one a couple years ago and it was such an amazing shave, possibly better than the one I currently have. I'm also curious to try some other pin varieties as well as the top cap with the corner notches as I've heard others say that those vary the shave feel a little bit.

2. New Improved - is my second favorite; the silver plated version is stunning, and a nice variety to the gold Bostonian which seems more common to find and that I've had in my collection for years, but to avoid tarnishing I picked up a Platinum replated one and it is amazingly stunning. For fun, I tried an English NI but did not experience a difference from the US counterpart.

3. LC and SC - are great for me but to me not *magical* like the English FB, so I trimmed them from my collection.

4. RFB - I also found the FB more efficient and smoother *for me* than the RFB. I do admit though that the RFB is beautiful to behold!

5. Deluxe - I've tried the 15mm and 17mm with the Bostonian type heavier handle and the bar type handle; I found its shave similar to the NI but I personally found the NI to be a bit smoother.

The News are amazing. Dang cat in my photo

Then the classy cases (they aren’t mint by far)

Blades seem to make the big difference. I find Permasharps to be good but the Russian Gillette Platinum “Swedes” are a bit more efficient and smoother. My Polsilvers are overkill with these.
English Flat bottom: just amazing, well rounded efficiency and forgiving
New SC: surprisingly forgiving for an open comb, not quite as nice as the English flat bottom
Goodwill “New LC”: The larger cap does something, but makes it nice, slightly less forgiving then the others.
New Improved:Aggressive, but smooth with the right blade
New LC: slightly more aggressive, less forgiving, close shave but a tad more rough
Raised Flat bottom: I need to experiment more, sharper blades may be better. The small blade gap is notable and doesn't compliment it as well as it does for the hybrid tech. Seems to have taken a step back with efficiency in a negative way with the two blades I mentioned, need to try again with a Polsilver.
New Deluxe:I have a hard time putting it at the bottom, doesn’t seem as smooth in my experiments so I need to try a bit more, definitely has what it takes to be slightly aggressive but smoothness kills the experience with my blade choices.
