Here's another razor from Italy, the Radar. It was made by Paulo Baenziger who also made the Benz and perhaps the Metropolitan. The cap and plate are the same, I believe, as the Casanova 930, except for the pins. The pins on the Radar allow for today's standard blades to be used which I believe is not the case for the Casanova.

Oops. I meant the "Metropolis", not the Metropolitan.

I hit the jackpot today and received three new vintage Gillette razors to add to my collection. They are a 1962 (H3) Slim in a case with a period correct blade dispenser, a 1951 (W4) Black Tip Superspeed in a case with a "modern" Super Blue blade dispenser, and a 1940ish nickel plated Tech in great shape. I think the Tech is a pre-war version because it has triangular openings in the guard and the guard is made of brass. I understand that the wartime Techs had plastic handles and aluminum guards (or plastic). The Slim was in rough shape, but the other two were pretty good. I'm working on developing my skills at restoring the plastic on the cases. See what you think in the before/after shots below.
The triplet that I received today with the cases as I got them (needing some TLC).
Today's bunch as I received them, needing some love and care.
The Slim in its newly polished case, which cleared up very nicely.
Slim after a clean and polish
The Superspeed and Tech both look great after a very light clean and polish!
The case for the Superspeed polished up great!
I'm really happy with the way the plastic is buffing out to a pretty clear shine again on both of these cases. The razors buffed up pretty nice too.

What are you using for the plastic cases? They look really good.

An other NEW RFB for me, gents ! :001_005: But this time, it is in much better condition :

- no teeth bent
- no plate loss, pratically
- engraved patent numbers quite visible
- original case

Price: 25 €

I'm quite sure that this one was heavily plated in silver. The top cap inside geometry is still different from @CJB3 one, but it seems to match this model because :

- it is also plated in silver
- and there is no misalignment problem at all, the blade is perfectly set.

Something that really surprised me is that the Old Type-like ball end handle is hollow on this one, as you can see on the last photo. Maybe some specialist like Adam @romsitsa could tell me more about that... 🧐

This package turned up today. Another eBay purchase. I had them in my watching page and the Sellers description had them as 2 unbranded safety razors. With a couple of hours to go I had a look and the price was moving up. On closer inspection before the auction finished I realised that one of them was an Eclipse Red Ring. I won.

Red Ring for the win!!! Love that razor - great score!

Excellent! And a nice price too.

That's interesting, I need to speak to @CJB3. Here's my (previously unused) RFB (now showing on mr-razor.com):

It misaligns the blade every time (till I tweak the blade tabs).

I checked the alignment using the cap from my beater RFB and it's perfect... but that cap (like yours) has the center crease, and shorter locating fins. (I've sent the beater cap for replating [to replace the original].)

My handle is hollow too.

My razor looks just like yours, @Cal. @Swingboy8’s razor is close, but a little different. The posts (is this what you are calling locating fins?) are longer on yours and mine:

I’ve looked at examples for sale on Etsy and eBay, and they all look like the above. That is a beautiful razor, though, @Swingboy8.

Just got from USA some razors that were in my wish list for a time.

Thank you for posting, Trey. :001_cool:

Yep, the cap on my original beater RFB (below) has the shorter locating fins and the center crease, just like @Swingboy8's. Using that cap, alignment is perfect.

I guess we all have our own lingo for razor parts. Your "posts" are my "locating pins" (or bullets) on Old Types and "locating fins" on NEWs.

Here's my "beater" which shaves just as brilliantly as my (previously) unused 1939 RFB, and needs no alignment adjustment:

The RFB is one of my favorite Gillette razors. Btw,I don't see you using your Hybrid Tech that much. Does the FB Tech shaves you better than the Hybrid?
