What's new

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month at B&B - Check Your 6!

Mike:

Thanks for all your work on this. I turned 50 in the fall, and this has been on my to-do list. I just scheduled my colonoscopy for April 19 directly as a result of this thread. I figured I ought to get my appointment in under the wire.

Bob

Way to go, Bob!

Last day of March and just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping bring this to the forefront. Health and happiness to all, and may all your shaves be pleasant ones until next year.

Ugh. Sorry man. Mine was just a reflux type thing. Too much spicy food and malt whisky. I just had to tone it down and take the hard(er) core antacid type stuff. Just do what the docs say, and take care of yourself.

Best,

Windy

Thanks. The thing I have comes from too much reflux too. Not everybody develops it though. I just take the heavy duty antacid stuff. The malt whisky thing is pretty difficult to avoid though. :001_rolle

Anyway. I got home from the hospital a few hours ago and, while the doc says we need to hear from the pathologist for sure, he thinks all is well. I'll just have to go back again in two years.

Great news! Just stay on of it, and listen to your Doc. These things are always better handled proactively.

Hi Gents,
My goodness, this procedure didn't follow the plan.
Bottom line......
No colon cancer seen in the c'scopy
In hospital since Wednesday night due to complications from c'scopy

hmmm... another poll? VOTE FOR LURID DETAILS :thumbup1: OR ICK THAT'S TMI:thumbdown

:a16:

Wow, sorry to hear that!
I'm tempted to say "ick" but this thread is full of details about sticking cameras up yer bum and what they find.
Your call :)

Gents,
With the greatest respect to MDevine and the other members who "get behind" the Check 6 event every year, I've decided to not post all the lurid and ugly details of my colonoscopy mis-adventure.
There are a million stories of people who've done this procedure with no side effects including my wife who had her check-up done and went back to teach a full 8 hour day after a lunch of homemade minestrone.

I want everyone to have this done so I'm not going to bring up the negatives.

If anyone wants to hear the details, PM me. I'm now home from the hospital and typing 2 handed.

CHECK YOUR SIX, EVERYONE. :detective: AND SAVE YOUR OWN LIFE.

I got moves like Jagger
It's not March, but there's never a bad time to bump a thread like this.

I'll be turning 50 tomorrow and SWMBO seems more disturbed about it than I. For me, it's just another day but I did get myself a pre-BDay present by scheduling a checkup with my doc for today. Our discussions went through the normal topics for a normal physical and then he said "You know, turning 50 means a slight shift in what we generally do for men." I answered something along the lines of "Yes, I know. I would like to have a colonoscopy." He seemed happy that I brought it up rather than him, as I guess some men are reluctant to have "that talk."

In any event, I'm awaiting scheduling with a specialist so we can begin the process of :
a) ruling out colon cancer, or
b) catching it early and getting everything addressed that needs to be addressed.

I'll be quite happy if the answer is (a), but answer (b) is perfectly acceptable as well and doesn't bother me in the least. Either one sure beats not getting testing at all and ending up on the wrong side of that gamble. :thumbup1:

It is a breeze, Bob/Sam if available have them give you the Prepopik, if your insurance covers it, as well as they are huge coupon available. This stuff is much better that the gallons of other stuff (2) 4 oz treatments 4 hrs apart, tastes like 7-up and your done. And it DOES work Your throne, a TV tray your laptop or tablet and a evening of cleansing, LOL

Also my GI doc ( also my client was telling me they are waiting approval for a Ultrasound type of test that would eliminate all of the "Fun"

Thanks for doing this. It is important
