"Lather that just explodes" - it's not exaggeration

Had my first experience with Tabac soap yesterday. Soaked the puck while showering, dumped the water, loaded up the brush real well, added just a touch of boiling water to my bowl and began to stir up some lather.

Holy smokes!

Truly, the lather seemed to just explode out of the brush. Gorgeous lather, thick luxurious lather, lather that stood up and had firm peaks. I was amazed at the amount of lather that appeared out of nowhere with that soap. It normally takes me 30 seconds or more to generate really good lather, but using the Tabac soap took me less than 10.

Prior to this experience I had dismissed the term "lather that just explodes" as pure hype. Not now! I have to see if my other soaps can match Tabac in lather generation...

Tabac is my only experience with a shaving soap so far, but with all of this type of feedback I am likely going to be a tough judge or other soaps.

that is interesting. I've noted that cream/soap often explodes when I use a little boiling water. I worry about brush damage though.

Shaved with Tabac for the first time this morning but the lather did not explode. It was a good lather, but nothing exceptional. Did you use a lot of water while lathering in the bowl ?

Please be careful soaking the puck. It absorbs water easily and may soften it to the point of falling apart when you try to dry it out. I lost a puck that way.

Aheeeeeeemmmmm this " Tabac " you guys use...
Has struck my curiosity, I use VDH deluxe,
Is there a incredible difference in the two products??
I ask because Im new as well to wet shaving, if this is something I just gotta try
I understand,if the two products are similar,in quality....I will pass until a later date......Russell

They're not close. VDH deluxe is on the low end of the totem pole, tabac is somewhere in the middle on the way to really great products. It's definitely worth trying though:biggrin:

In my opinion Prairie creations will not equal it but will surpass it. You can also get it in different scents and its made by one of our own. I have both and prefer Prairie Creations best.

Wow I'm surprised you were able to load that brush with tabac. I used to own that brush it is very soft and floppy. I used to love it for creams but when I started using soaps I had to purchase a Rooney 2/1. Good job loading that brush with soap.
