Oh my.Add 3 more boars to the above.
[...]
I need professional help if that’s what you mean.Oh my.
You added three brilliant pieces that each could solo provide years of glorious service, telling a story the entire time, as you changed together.
And it's Dec 1.
Whew. I'm out of breath. I'd worry that you're peaking too soon, but you're a professional (you have a professional, right?).
Very nice report!View attachment 1371097
>> DecemBOAR 2021, day 1 <<
TLDR: a great start into DecemBOAR.
I'm starting myDecemBOAR journey with the cheapest piece of hardware in my den. The Omega 10108 boar currently costs you less than 6 euros on the European side of the pond (it retails for 8.30 USD @ Pasteurs ) - and that should be said up front, it punches well above its weight class. I would say that for this low price, it is a true bargain.
The knot on my 10108 is 27mm thick, and the loft is 55mm high - just over what is generally considered a perfect 2-1 ratio. I would say that the knot still is - although fully broken in - on the more stiff side of the scale, but it never feels uncomfortable on the face. It is capable of being a perfect partner for face lathering (although it has a huge knot).
Out of the box, the knot had a little "scratchiness" - a "problem" that I was able to completely eliminate by cutting off the few dark bristles the knot contained ("scratchiness" in a knot is not something I like at all). Now it's just fine.
The knot provides a fairly balanced scrubbing (the scrub is not too strong (could that even be?) and not too mild - maybe in the middle range of the scale, if you will). The knot splays easily when you want it to without feeling overly floppy.
The nice thing about this knot is that it has barely changed its original shape so far. I hope it stays that way in the long run. The handle is grippy (enough) even with soapy fingers (although it seems to be made of plastic) - I really like the shape, anyway, and also the color scheme.
The series is available in (the pictured) red, navy blue and white. Unfortunately the label sticker came off during the very first use, but hey, that's a first world problem only.
I do like this brush.
I ordered my 3 new boars from Fendrihan and Italian Barber. I’m not waiting 2-3 weeks for these little piggies! You may be pleasantly surprised, I ordered my Mistura from tpf in April and it arrived in under 2 weeks, but with the time of year etc I dunno. Hopefully.
We WILL have rules and maybe lots of them… but we don’t yet. They shall be made up on the fly as we go along and could very well be VERY stringent. Or maybe not. Depends on my mood and if I remember to take my meds every day.1. SharpieB

I'm in.
Whether I'll use a boar (or a partial boar) every day is up for grabs, but I'll use boars a lot. Kick me out if I'm breaking a rule by saying that.

Today's brush was the Semogue SOC Mistura. Great brush.
Happy shaves,
