Prep : warm shower / Bulldog original face wash
Pre shave : Proraso blue
Brush : Proraso boar by Omega
Cream : Proraso Blue
Razor : Muhle R41
Blade : Voshkod (6)
Post : alum block , Proraso Blue AS balm

7 out of 10

First shave of the month, warming up to the proraso bleu smell.

Not sure how I like this razor, but at least better result than with the Fatip Lo Storto Chrome Slant earlier this week, I am going to have to work on the blade angle a lot … I suppose next Saturday shave will be with a new blade in the Merkur 34 HD. I got 4 new to me blade to test in the coming month and see if the voshkod is really the best blade for me so far.

BTW I really enjoyed the grip of the handle

>> DecemBOAR, day 2 <<

The Semogue 1800 is one of my longest serving shaving brushes. I like him very much, even if his knot has become a bit floppy in the meantime. But no matter, as I find the lovely grain of the handle is reason enough to continue to use him regularly. So I do...

DecemBoar 2nd

Soap: Stirling Sheep for the week
Scuttle: Crown King
Razor: Hydro-magic by Ever-Ready
Blade: sChick (12, like the Energizer bunny!!)
Brush: TGN 24mm boar in Trotter Handcrafts Coho

20211202_034815.jpg

This was the first use of the brush, other than 8-10 hand lathers to start breaking it in. It only lost 5 hairs on the first pass.

The brush had both a great face feel and the handle felt perfect in my hand. I did have to reload with a few swirls off the puck again, as the lather was looking too thin. But it sure was slick! Is it my imagination or is the soap somehow different with a boar?!

I'm in! Late to the party as I didn't shave yesterday! Tried out my Goodfellas Smile Wild Hog again today but similar to previous uses I found it to be a bit too floppy for my liking (floppier than an Omega Pro 49 which I still find odd as it is essentially a shortened loft version of that knot!)

Combining decemboar and PIF from Feather and Kai blades, this was today's shave with the Kai blade and Omega 10049 brush. It will be either this or the Omega 10018 brush. I have 1 synthetic, only used during holidays.

DecemBOAR 2nd

Grabbed a pretty new Omega 10104 Boar. Still developing/breaking into the brush that it can be. Already a good painter and tips are splitting, it’s going to be a small scrubby buddy when it “gets there”.

Omega 10104, ARKO, BMMOC, Pinaud Clubman.

Semogue 2000 meets TI 7/8 Basic Black with hard translucent Arkansas finish, Acqua di Parma cream, and Myrsol F/Extra.

C135 steel + hard translucent Arkansas + mineral oil = marriage made in heaven.

Love the Semogue 2000 - the bristles and the handle shape. Only wish they made a 22 mm version.

The above said, I have to say that creams (at least this most excellent one) do not work as well with boar as badger. I can only get that whipped cream experience with creams using badger.

Great right up but, your picture perfectly captures traditional wet shaving! (And I don’t even use a SR).

Hey, me too! First time use of an untreated TNS knot in a Paul Trotter handle. Having done a couple palm lathers which looked/felt very promising I was pretty disappointed today in its performance. But a break in period is to be expected. The soap I used is also kind of peculiar and it was my first use of the tub.
