There is a sticky thread in soaps that you might find encouraging!! 3017Still in. Killing soaps is my new mission. Will take years. Focused and determined. Might sell some soap too possibly. Have a great day.
Thanks! Is it called 3017 for a reason? There is a sticky thread in soaps that you might find encouraging!! 3017

I read the first post where he says I won't finish until 2017. It was posted in 2010. I am assuming that some people won't kill all their soaps until 3017?
Yes, indeed!
If you want to read the thread all the way through, we won't ruin the surprise. If you want the TL;DR, I'm happy to share.
I plan to leave my B&B username and password to my grandchildren with instructions to pass the credentials on to their grandchildren. That way "bjm" might actually finish their shaving soaps/creams by 3017I read the first post where he says I won't finish until 2017. It was posted in 2010. Psst…skip to post 23,002 for the logical answer, but post 192 could very well be the definitive smoke screenI read the first post where he says I won't finish until 2017. It was posted in 2010. I am assuming that some people won't kill all their soaps until 3017?

I read them both, thanks. I think I might try this. Not sure waht to start with. My choices are Tabac, Cella, Arko, Sterling Glastonbury, Sterling Glacial Electric Sheep, PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum, and Chiseled Face Ghost Town barber. Glastonbury is the soap I have the least amount left of so that one would make sense.Psst…skip to post 23,002 for the logical answer, but post 192 could very well be the definitive smoke screen
Anyway - it’s in the B&B urban dictionary by today’s standards!
Best,
Guido
Most welcome Mark - you already listed 8, so that’s easily 24-32 months of lathering pleasureI read them both, thanks. I think I might try this. Not sure waht to start with. Agreed - start culling the herd by picking off the weakest.I read them both, thanks. I think I might try this. Not sure waht to start with. I fully agree with the logic. Tabac will be a feat. I started with the shave stick, and loved it so I bought two tallow refill pucks. One is still in the box, but the stick and the other puck went into a large sterling empty plastic container. It's 3/4 full. Cella is another story. I bought the kilo brick. So, that could take years. I will begin with the smallest weakest soap for my first kill, much like a young lion.Agreed - start culling the herd by picking off the weakest.
I do a month at a time (or more) of a single soap with that same goal in mind, but because I participate in "events", like Arko August, I don't see the bottom of a tub very often. Still, I have killed a few soaps along the way...and GRUME at least gives me a chance to continually thin the herd.
Second year of Arko August and my puck went from convex to very slightly dished…Agreed - start culling the herd by picking off the weakest.

Being the third Monday of the week, and having missed the first one, I broke out a new Gem PTFE Blade for my 1912 series Gem Junior. I tried @Ron R ’s Spine Shim idea and it worked beautifully! A mild shave, but not without some small weepers. DFS+ Results!
