Still in 🙏🏽

Took the time to deepen my skill shaving with the Yaqi Knight Helmet.
I have so many razors that I tend to use them at random.
Most are excellent, but sometimes I feel like using one to get to know it better and use it to compare blades or soaps. Another benefit while in GRUME is space to take your time, if that makes any sense to you 🤔
The blades and soaps used can be seen in the picture.
Winners are the Vacanza Romana and the King C Gillette.
No craving, by the way.

Happy shaves, all 👍🏼

SOTD #16
  • Truefitt's Pre-Shave
  • ARKO (SOTM) (Arko August)
  • Adam Grooming's Pure Badger
  • Weishi 9306
  • Gillette Permasharp (4)
  • Kiehl's Blue Astringent
  • Proraso Green Splash
  • Nivea Post-Shave Balm
Second year of Arko August and my puck went from convex to very slightly dished…
This time of year may be the only time my puck makes a regular appearance...
Day 17, 54.8% complete.
Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Nacet Stainless #9
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave.
Take courage, it can be done. My MWF refill puck, started 29th July 2021, is on the ropes. It's done about half my shaves, so hard soaps can do 6 months.
Gave myself Wednesday off from 3017ing, for a midweek SV treat. Took my time, and got a good near-BBS.
SV is the best soap I've tried so far. Is there anything that beats it for performance and non-irritation?
Feeling as though my puck of SV 70th will be on-deck for SOTM September

A late evening shave, didn't have as mich time as usual so out comes the Sensor excel and canned Barbasol. I decided to whip out the latherless shaving cream "Dirty" from Lush to try and use it up. First pass... ouch! tuggy, scratchy... not at all what I'm used to with a cartridge... weird... its a new cartridge too... here it is up close:

I bought these in bulk... are they "refurbished" blades? fakes? Who knows, but this is the first that hasn't gone well... but! I also picked up one of these after internet-ting a long time ago that I never got to use:

Stropped the cart a few times with shaving cream... and second pass... ahh.... silky smooth. Was it the cart? was it bc I was in a rush and didn't prep as well? Who knows, but the second pass was wonderful. 2 wtg passes and done.

Still in.

Used a fresh Astra, for a comfortable DFS. Got the MWF down to 19g! That old boar was a good idea.

Ahhhh….such bliss. Hadn’t used my Fatips in a while. I need to get more experience with rotation - or maybe all my razors are just a pleasure to use and I can’t choose.

Proraso Green Soap
Omega Boar Brush
RR Game Changer 68 SB with Elite Razor handle
Personna MedPrep (3)
Clubman Pinaud Aftershave Splash
PdP 63 EdT

2 1/2 passes after 48 hours of dwell time. My favorite shaves occur after I skip a day. That was also true in my cartridge days.

I have also been working through my hard soaps 1 at a time, with breaks when I use creams. Finished a Williams mug soap late last year and the Stirling Executive Man last month. Now running through the Proraso Green. I have two more to go (not counting a stash of Williams) and have told myself that I will not order another soap until I am on the last one. We'll see if that holds true!

Peace!

@linty1 - I have actually been interested in the "stropper" device that you have. Have you (or others) used it enough to give an opinion? I regularly palm, towel or denim strop cartridge razors and sometimes DE's as well.
