January 2024 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Still in.
I am mostly using the Leaf Twig and getting good results. I don't think I have used Tabac for 7 straight days but I am enjoying this great soap. Tomorrow is Tallow Tabac Tuesday.

Evening shave. I've worked 13.5 hours today, so this shave was forseseen to be my salvation. The plan didn't work out, the blue Astra was not a good match for this razor. The results were fine, but the shave lacked the level of smoothness I was hoping for. That happens.

I tried optimising for comfort, and that worked out well. I still got the critical areas (round the nose and mouth, where it would annoy me) clean, but skipped the ATG pass on my cheeks, and did one WTG neck pass.
It's certainly not a BBS, probably ranks as a CCS+.
It will be interesting to see how that holds up over the next 24 hours.

Today’s shave was one on my top three vintage SE, my Ever - Ready 24-14, The Little Lather Catcher. A Gem PTFE blade (9) and a RIGS* Shim were used. I didn’t get the lather quite as thick as needed for these these types of razors, and I was under time pressure, but I still got an acceptable 9.2 shave. The head of the Razor seemed loose and moved a few times, it’s going to get a coat of LocTite on the threads before its next shave.
