I didn’t even know these sights existed. Who would have thought, a web site devoted to shaving products.
Then again I also didn’t know I needed to shave in the shower and leave the lather on for 3 minutes. I do occasionally shave in the shower, but use bar soap as my shaving soap and a Mach 3 when I do. Works just fine.
Don't know about 2000, but we're here for you now.
And Gillette actually did recommend leaving the lather around your chin and mustache area until last, to allow the shaving cream to work longer on the areas that were typically tougher or sensitive. Pretty sure this was well before 2000.

Nah. The "right" way is the way that works best for you. I follow the Gillette recommendation because I figure it can't hurt, so why not?
I go: cheeks, neck, chin, upper lip.
Yeah, I don’t think it would really make a difference doing it the Gillette way.
I wash my face w/soap, rinse using a washcloth, then dampen the washcloth w/hot water and hold it on my chin and ‘stache, then lather. I don’t think the whiskers could get any more waterlogged.
