Saponificio Varesino aftershave balm is more of an aftershave milk -somewhere in between a splash and a true balm. It absorbs quickly, is non-greasy, and is both soothing and refreshing. The aromatic fern scent is complex and sophisticated and it stays close to the skin.
Another refreshing aftershave from the Captain. If you like Captain's Bayrum or Cat'O'Nine Tails, then you may like this. I get a subtle lime scent but it's overpowered by clove. If you're not a fan of clove, then you probably won't like Limes. As an aftershave it performs well, a little burn followed by a gentle cool down which soothes my regular razor burn. I recently acquired (from Garry's Samples-a real shaving oasis, run by a great guy!) a number of Pinaud aftershaves, and thought it might be helpful to compare them for y'all.

It goes on with a cooling sensation.
The scent is subtle and very classy. It will last most of the day, but is not overpowering.
It is similar to a "barbershop scent", but invokes a more elegant setting also.
