I actually disliked this scent when I first got it. I find in the summer's heat, it can smell a bit acrid. In cooler weather, though, this stuff is a winner. Very strongly perfumed with neroli (orange blossom), with a very interesting dry down featuring some amber and musk notes. There are also some nice zesty tones dancing around - quite complex and nice. This one wouldn't offend anyone.
This was one of those "love at first scent" fragrances for me. I just love anything sandalwood, and I own many different colognes, soaps, and creams in this scent. It starts out a bit sweet, but dries down into something dryer and perhaps a bit "powdery". It is never overpowering, and sticks around a long time. This is probably my favorite sandalwood cologne, and it is reasonably priced at $40 per 100mL. Since it is also available in a bodywash and aftershave balm (both excellent...
According to L'Occitane: "Fragrance of the Shepherds: Energizing splash of ginger, cardamom and paprika--blended with our purifying Cade essential oil complex--tones and protects skin, and helps to close pores. Fresh "wake up" aroma extends an immediate feeling of well-being. Its name recalls a Provençal legend." I got a small trial bottle of this stuff at the L'Occitane outlet, and I am pretty impressed with it. The ingredient list is unique (paprika!?), and it does contain alcohol, so...

Well, I got my sampler pack from Baxter a few days ago, and I am pretty impressed. The after shave balm is an interesting beast - I used it the first time without reading the ingredients, and WOW did I get a surprise. This stuff has menthol, and is extremely cooling. Anyway, it is a gel consistency with a light citrusy scent which fades quickly. Immediately after putting it on, you are greeted by an intense cooling sensation. It feels like shoving your face into a bowl of ice cubes. After...
I got a bottle of this stuff at the same time I bought the shampoo/conditioner and the facial cleanser. This is the first liquid body wash I have ever used, as I was brought up as a bar soap guy. This has to be one of the best smelling products for men out there - really fresh and nice. I have tried it just lathering up in my hands, and with a washcloth. Both cases produce nice thick lather. I also find this very moisturizing; my skin tends to be very dry, and it makes a noticeable...
Good morning gents. I would like to take a moment to review some fine shaving soaps from Chelsea's Soap Garden, an eBay seller. I came across her products randomly, and was intrigued by the Ginger-Lime soap, two scents which are at the top of my favorites list. I had her site bookmarked for months before I finally got around to ordering, and now I wish I hadn't waited so long. I got two shave soaps, one in Ginger-Lime, and another in "Katmandu" (ignore the QED shave stick): These...

Things have been quiet in the shave cream forum, so I thought I would share my reactions to Taylor's Almond. For some background, I am a huge Taylor's fan. Probably >50% of my shaves are with their creams. I find their scents and shaving qualities to be superb for my skin. Here is the tub among my SOTD stuff: When I got the tub, it was quite soft, to the point where it would begin to flow if you tilted the tub. Figuring hot weather was the cause, I put in the fridge for an hour...
After all the vetiver talk, I decided to pick up a bottle of the L'Occitane version. This is my first ever experience with Vetyver scents, so I wasn't sure what to expect. In a nutshell, I am very impressed. Colognes, for me, fall into a few different categories. There is the "I am a cologne, and I smell nice" category (Taylor, C-M, ...). Then there is the "I smell intensely of the elements I consist of (Penhaligon's, ...). Lastly, there is the category of fragrances that evoke a mood, a...
I have been using this product from Em for about a year as part of my nighttime ablutions. Here is what Em says about it: With cucumber distillate, this naturally scented lotion is perfect for the person who wants it light and fresh. Includes jojoba, glycerin and coconut oils to enrich the skin and moisturize. Soothing cucumber is reputed to have natural anti-inflammatory properties. Use on face or body anytime, a little goes a long way. This stuff is light, refreshing, and moisturizing...
Gents, it is hard to get really psyched about a hand lotion. but this stuff is just phenomenal. Wintertime around here, plus constant hand washing (kids, ya know) really takes a toll on my hands. It is not unusual for them to get so dry that they actually crack. Very painful indeed. Every evening before bedtime I like to give them a good moisturizing. Also another chance to add some scent into your life. I picked this up from Nancy Boy in the "Sweetgrass" scent. In a...
