What's new

Your thoughts on male jewelry.....

I will admit that if I'm going gambling I pull out the 80's heavy artillery: gold pinky ring with black star sapphire and gold ID bracelet. Both are simple and more tasteful than the descriptions would have you believe, but a casino is about the only environment left where that sort of thing is appropriate.

Dress watch and cufflinks at least once a week, but I consider that part of business wear.

Wedding ring, and sometimes watch and cufflinks... Wish I could find the occasion to wear them more often.

I wear a weddng ring and a watch.
Occasionally i'll break out a ring on my right hand, but not often.
A nice man ring is good to have. It takes some looking to get just the right one.

I wear my wedding band (plain gold) and a watch 24/7/365 although I do take off my wedding band when I have a weight lifting day as it is uncomfortable holding a barbell, and I take it off when shooting sporting clays so as to not scratch the forend. I also wear a silver crucifix on a stainless chain but that is personal rather than an accessory (i.e. it stays under my shirt).

I wear cuff links when the shirt requires them (and I only have a few that do). My late father used to wear a copper link bracelet and I have it now, and every so often bust it out in his memory. I wore my class ring for years but stopped when I got married - two rings felt a bit much.

I'm 27, and I still maintain my earrings (3 in each ear, stainless hoops). I had my eyebrow pierced in college, but took it out for some reason and lost it, just didn't care enough to replace it. I guess I fall into the "alternative" or "punk" or "rockabilly" or whatever you want to call it "scene."

I wear my wedding band, on my right hand (eastern european tradition, I like it cuz it's a little different, may have been a religious thing originally, but I'm not religious so I don't care about that).

And, watch or cufflinks depending on the dress.

I didn't know tattoos were jewelry, though I do consider them decoration and artful. I have both upper arms completely covered, and they can be seen with short sleeves. And, the years my dad was born and died on my left inner forearm. The rest of my "sleeves" are planned (mostly) and just waiting to be done (time/money/babysitter).

My jewellery consists of...

- Gold rings. Given to me by my father. I wear these occasionally.
- Gold pocketwatch and chain. I wear this almost daily.
- Cufflinks (If I'm wearing a shirt that requires them).

That's about it, really. I do have other pieces of jewellery, but I don't wear them very often at all.

Boy how things change!

Watches were more necessary than decoration up to perhaps the 1970s, when electronic watch movements made accuracy possible for even the least expensive watches. Mechanical movements have also become less expensive, due to computerized manufacturing techniques. Now they are jewelery.

Fashion does change too. Does anyone remember Nehru jackets and necklaces with big medallions? Mister T?

I do wear a watch. I have a few rings, but wear just one. No wedding band. No necklaces. No bracelets. I'd like to look like a pirate, though. I just don't have much social occasion to do that.

These days I'm only sporting the wedding band. It never comes off. I've tried watches but my wrists are small and they just don't fit right, plus I tend to break new watches like clockwork (pun intended). Born and raised in the deep south bible belt, my dad told me at a young age if I wanted an earring to go ahead and get one, then he'd cut off my man parts and slap a dress on me. I know he's a close-minded old fart, but those words stuck in my head, so no earrings for this guy. I would like to try a ring on the right hand one day. That family crest ring from a previous post sounds cool.

My Cousins wanted an earring so my Uncle said "Sure, you can have an earring" there all excited and he says "But i have to be the one to give it to you" "Go get a piece of 2X4, hammer and a brad nail"...... They never brought up an earring again.

I have seen many ears pierced with an ice cube, potato, and a nail!

Watch, a SS ring and a bracelet of some description at times.

The ring i wear is one i made myself year ago, 2 of my best friends have the same design that they wear too. I made them just before i moved states for 4 years.

Bracelets are generally simple throw away ones - i.e. elastic cords with large black or timber beads, when they fall apart, just get some new ones. I actually normally poach them off my missus. I've done it since we were 15 and i suppose i just haven't stopped.

I got my ear pierced when i was 12, i think it was gone by the time i was 13 - i had it ripped out a couple of times and around that time a few other lads started getting theirs done, so it wasn't different any more and i took it out.

I dont think i would ever have my ears done again, nor my eye brow or lip.

I saw someone mention tats. I have a dirty great big southern cross on my forearm. Thats jewellry due to placement alone...

For the Aussies amongst us - I got this one done the weekend of the Cronulla riots. Man, talk about bad timing. It wasn't my intention and i didn't know what had happened till the sunday night when i was driving from Mascot to Wollongong, via Rockdale and around the shire etc....
I remember looking at my freshly tattood arm the following morning and thing - "this isn't good..."

I get a big kick out of people who wear more than a ring and watch. Some guys lover their bracelets that flap around on their wrists. Looks so gaudy and stupid which these people undoubtedly think it looks "nice and classy" (most likely the same fellas that like Movado watches). A complete waste of $200 which they would be better off paying down their obnoxious credit card debt.

The only 'bling' I wear is a plain wedding band and small-link gold figaro braclet (besides a wood bead Rosary around my neck). :yesnod:

Also, I haven't worn a earring (left ear), since 1979 when I joined the Army...and I have no 'body piercings' besides 17 tattoo's. :lol1:

I was reading an article somewhere about how watches are essentially obsolete and more jewelry now. The idea is basically everyone has a cellphone now, which has a clock on it, and it's the most accurate timepiece available.

As for myself a wedding ring, watch, and a thin gold rope chain with a cross on it which was given to me by my grandparents when I was in JR high. It's been on me for over 20 years. It also has a small pendant on it which was given to me by my now wife when we were dating. However that is often hidden by my shirt.

A youngish (33) female friend of ours posted on Facebook last night the she had watched "Dog, Bounty Hunter" for the first time, and joked about old people wearing belly-button jewelry. I laughed to myself and thought I hope she remembers that herself in a few years. :001_cool:

I am just pleased you say 33 is youngish. Does that count the higher side of 30 also?

I like some jewelry on men. Wedding ring, watch, maybe a necklace or bracelet. Not too much though. I do not mind Men in earrings as long as it is not my husband.

All that I wear is a watch, and not every day. I had my ears pierced for a couple years in college, but I grew out of that and haven't worn them in probably 5 years. Hopefully one day I'll be wearing a wedding band, but other than that, no jewelry for me.

I sooo know how you feel! That's why I go to the Caribbean at least one month every Fall!
