Vintage Soap Project

I bought a 1930s shaving kit which, as well as containing a nice Old Type clone razor, had an old ivory shaving stick in it.
The stick didn't have any kind of holder so I thought I'd have a go at reconstituting it:

I grated the stick into an empty moisturiser tub, added a splash of hot water and ta da!:

For some reason the colour changed from ivory to oatmeal when I grated it, and that soap's at least 40 years old so it'll be interesting to see what sort of lather it generates...

It will be great! May need some extra water, but it will be great!

That lather's like a silk cloud and it smells of cream soda!
So do these soaps mature with age or did they just put more magic in them back then?
