"A lie is halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on."
But what of a half-truth? (And thus a half-lie?)
Whilst not as speedy getting boots on as the lie, the half-truth is carried by the lie,
so is ready and has its boots on when halfway round the world, and so can travel
right round the world and arrive back before the truth has travelled far.
The half-truth, then, is near to the truth and has characteristics of the truth, but
can be easily distinguished by being out of breath, and having scuffed boots.
