SOTD "Giving Thanks" Theme Week 24-30 November 2014

Hallo,

this is my first week using a DE razor =)
after years with an electric shaver, i wanna have a change!

my dad gave me the following combo:
- gillette tech
- personna blade
- local shaving soap
- gillette aftershave cool wave

i'm not satisfied at all, therefore i will try to find a new combo =)

That sounds like a forgiving combo to me. Maybe try swapping out the soap for something generally accepted as reliable for a start (e.g. Proraso soap or cream, Taylor of Old Bond Street cream, RazoRock soap, etc.) while you work on your technique. Although, we all know how strong the siren song of the acquisition disorders can be!

Cool & clear this morning, 18ºF/-8ºC and warming to 50ºF/10ºC this afternoon with no breeze to speak of. The Ingram cream is lovely stuff with a nice dose of lanolin to boot. The Wade & Butcher was great too and really seems to be holding it's edge nicely. Just a quick strop and it's feels fantastic. Have a good 'un folks.

today, I have decided to use some elements that are not showing lately in my shavings. First, the Jabonman soap, a soap that takes me a lot of efforts to get a consistent foam. Second, the Tradere, an impressive razor, that gives quite close shaves. Very happy with the final result!
