1960 Super Speed F1, incorrect case of course (for a late '40s NDC model), but still an awful purdy example.
I'll track down a nice tan box for it and put everything right soon with a '49 in that red one.

How can you tell if it's a '49 with no date code?

Mike; Beautiful razor sir, now that you have gone to the Dark Side...

Doug; How do the early 1960's Flare Tips shave in comparison to the 1954 and 1955 versions? I have not tried one past E1. Thanks!

Toothpick; How does it feel to have the wind in your face sir? 1948 and 1949 Super Speeds are identical razors, with the difference being in the paperboard box used in 1948 and the styrene case, first available in 1949. The probability of locating a 1949 is greater, as Gillette produced large numbers of Super Speeds that year. God Bless! Tony Brown RN mgbbrown

F codes still had the high-dome head of the 1950's so the shave is exactly the same. Sometime soon after (late '61-"62? I used to know ...) the head went to a much lower profile similar to the black handle SS -- still a great razor and one I've used a lot.

Thanks Doug; I have three- a 1955 birth year A1; a 1954 Z1; and a 1954 Z3 which is one of my daily shavers, so I am particularly partial to this version of the Super Speed. It is a beautiful razor visually, well balanced, and a wonderfully mild shaver on my moderate growth whiskers too, just as Gillette intended. Too bad it is often overlooked, as it is an all-around and consistently solid performer. I know that your hunt for cases and dispensers will succeed! God Bles

Woohoo! Way to go, Adam!:jump:

Thanks, JM!

Very nice on both. Are you going to re-knot the Ever Ready or condition and clean it?

I'm going to try reconditioning first. I don't think it was used even though the handle was covered in Ivory soap.
Thanks for your kind words.

That is awesome! Great haul.

Okay,as I told yself I was going to go to antique sops and yard sales to find vintage razors.

Well, I found this Gem Micromatic in pretty good shape. Needs to be cleaned. I don't know much about the Gem razor, so I'm not sure if what I have is good or bad. Twist the bottom handle knob to open the door.
