Favorite Soaps? (for hard water areas)

so, I've been wetshaving for a little while now and, for no particular reason other than economy, have been sticking to the easily had inexpensive soaps (with one excursion to the Burt's Bees Bay Rum..which dissappointed).

I get decent lather with the Col. Conk Amber but I thought I'd like to know what, if anything, I'm missing.

so - what are some of your favorite soaps (in the sub $15 range) that make the best lather you've had? I think I'd like to stick with vegetable glycerin, but could be convinced to try a tallow soap. I'm debating the tabac, but would like to know if anyone has had similarly dense lather with a non-tallow soap. (all this keeping in mind that my building has some fairly difficult hard water).

let's hear it, gents!

You might do better to post your question over here in the sub-forum for discussing shave soaps:

This particular sub-forum is for selling things you've decided to part with.

As for your question, I don't have hard water so I'm not sure how much I can help, but I've very much enjoyed Tabac. If you're looking to stay on the less expensive end, don't miss Arko. It's a must-try.

thanks for the tip, I'll check out arko.

also, thanks for pointing out the location - too much clicking around and I thought I actually was over in the soaps forum..woops..hah
