Stirling soap co: “sharp dressed man” Soap Review

Sharp dressed man shave soap by Stirling soap co

Made in: USA 🇺🇸

Item description: see below ingredients

Ingredients: Beef Tallow, Stearic Acid, Distilled Water, Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Vegetable Glycerin, Fragrance Oil, Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Milk, Lanolin, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Lactate

Scent profile: (per the official website. ) “Patterned after the famous Green Irish Tweed scent that was created for Cary Grant. This scent has been put to use by men like Robert Redford and Clint Eastwood, meaning this is what real men smell like, whether they're stepping out in a tuxedo like Redford, or making a canoe out of someone's forehead like Eastwood. I feel more masculine when I use this.…”

What I think this soap smells like: cologne, spices? Kinda sharp like citrus.

Scent strength: mild

Scent Longevity: moderate

Texture: soft

Latherability: great

Patch test : n/a

First thoughts, I wasn’t too fond of the smell which is kind of mild. But then I tried the aftershave. I love it now! Smells like a man ready for a date.

Final thoughts: all in all a great soap! Would I suggest this to the ladies? No. But yes to men.

Sharp Dressed Man is a Creed Green Irish Tweed dupe. Cool Water is another cologne that is often associated with GIT so that would be another scent it is similar to.

I had a sample of this a few years back, and I used it slap up I liked it so much. I need to replace it one day. They had a mentholated version last year I meant to pick up and I let it get away. Maybe it will return this spring or summer.

At first I did not like the smell. But now I do. It’s quite pleasant now.

yes I have been told after I published the review elsewhere that it’s an imitation of green Irish tweed.

Sharp Dressed Man is my wife's favorite scent for me to wear. It is also the only tub of soap that I have actually finished. They last a long time for me. Razorock has Irish Countryside which is similar. Stirling is better but IB puts on better sales.

I had the exact same experience. Not too sure at first, but now it's my first full tub. It's nice, and my wife loves. Now I have the bath soap too

This is one of my favorites. I have maybe 8-10 soaps/creams in my den and over a dozen A/S or colognes, but SDM soap and A/S when I use it, is the only one that has gotten multiple comments from women at work or in the grocery store, kinda at random, who say, "Wow, that's nice, what is that scent you're wearing?"

No, it doesn't happen often, but this is the combo that it has happened multiple times with. The only other that comes close is Stirling Varen followed by Aramis. Have had a few mention that.

Saponificio Veresino Felce Aromatica? Ethos Dragonsbeard? PAA Doppelganger Grey and splash? Nope.

But Sharp Dressed Man? Yep, comments from stranger ladies frequently. I love it.

Ethos dragonsbeard? What scent profile is that? It sounds interesting.

I don’t get many compliments. I usually have to ask if the scent is nice to others.

I’m actually thinking of trying other Stirling Soap shave products.

I’m bad at describing scents, but this is from his website.

Dragonsbeard Eau De Parfum contains a higher percentage of the Dragonsbeard Aroma Blend than the Skin Food Splash. This dark, somewhat gourmand scent is perfect for a fall or winter, day or night. The Aroma Blend combines Authentic Agarwood Oil and Oud Resin. Essential Oils of East Indian Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka Bean Butter, Madagascar Vanilla Bean Infusion Oil, and Rose Damask Absolute are also used in this Aroma Blend. Pure Sugar Cane Alcohol is used in this EDP.

This and riffs on Creed Green Irish Tweed are my two favorite scents. I found Saponificio Veresino Felce Aromatica is a riff on GIT, and when I got some, I gifted my Stirling SDM in a PIF. I’ve never actually smelled Creed so I don’t care if it’s a close clone or not, I just like that type of scent.

Mostly I do not do EDT or EDP scents, just soap and A/S pairings. But for both Ethos Dragonsbeard and S.V. Felce Aromatic, I get the full set, soap, A/S, and EDT. Those are my two favorite scents and they are terrific soaps.

I tried a sample shave soap and sample EDT on my first order from Stirling. Good stuff. I loved the reference to Cary Grant and was prepared to tell anyone that commented on the scent that is was the Cary Grant scent. However, at this point in time, only old guys like me know who Cary Grant was with is own brand of cool and suave (his real name was Archibald Leech - not a cool name).

If you like Sharp Dressed Man, give Executive Man a try. I did with samples. It is Stirlings best selling scent but has little projection and longevity. I slightly prefer that to Sharp Dressed Man because after a while I began to grow a bit tired of the scent.

Go for it. Almost all my Stirling purchases were samples, shave soap (1oz), Witch Hazels scents, EDT’s, and aftershave samples. I do not want to be stuck with a scent I do not care for so samples help. One can get 12+ shaves from a sample puck. My favorite soaps from them are their mutton tallow line, some of which are seasonal.

When I have the money. I’d like to pick up something from alyworth razors first.

ordering from the usa is a pain for me. To spare the long story, ”mail sucks at my place”.
