   Today, for the first time, I shaved with Arko Moist shaving cream, one of my recent acquisitions. I know you gentlemen are probably wondering, how is it that every brand from Arko is being rated 10/10 by me? Well the answer is simple:
In my honest opinion, that's what I feel they deserve! I took my shower this morning, and then when I stepped out and prepared my razor, I rinsed my face with hot water again, and applied a little of the Arko Moist to my Kent brush. I...
I have never seen such a fine shaving cream for such little money. This stuff is enough to want to make me abandon my Taylors, DR Harris, and other premium English creams. The scent, latherability, etc are impeccable.
Sorry I don't have a digital camera, but I did want to review this product. I will preface my review by saying I believe Taylor's to be of superb quality and a great value at $13.50 for a tub. Taylor's creams continue to be unsurpassed in their quality of lather and gentleness on my skin. That being said, onto the review..
I've always received the tubs in zippered bags, so no pretty box thus far.
Upon opening the lid, immediately you can see how the cream is a...
Things have been quiet in the shave cream forum, so I thought I would share my reactions to Taylor's Almond. For some background, I am a huge Taylor's fan. Probably >50% of my shaves are with their creams. I find their scents and shaving qualities to be superb for my skin.
Here is the tub among my SOTD stuff:
When I got the tub, it was quite soft, to the point where it would begin to flow if you tilted the tub. Figuring hot weather was the cause, I put in the fridge for an hour...
This shaving cream got an awful bad rap right from the beginning. Before this cream hit our shores for distribution, it was already receiving lackluster reviews and was touted to be wildly medeocre, and have a **** poor "synthetic" scent. From the get go - this stuff just didn't interest me as for some reason the jar struck me as terribly ugly, low rent and drab looking - and coming from a fan of salter shaving creams - this means an awful lot.
The label looks VERY cheap and...
This is the first tube of AOS I have had the pleasure of trying - and I must say, I was quite surprised. The first thing I noticed was the lid/tub. It is the best built tub of any high end shaving cream I have used - as unlike the 3 T's, and others, it has a very positive opening/closing action, and a great feel/look.
When you twist off the lid of the jar, you are immediatly greeted with a "lemon merengue" like scent of delicious lemon. The cream seems to be "airy" similar to...
Some chaps were having problems lathering up some trumpers almond - so I took some pics...
Decided to go with the shavemac. It has been a bit lonely.
Soaking the brush in hot water, and warming up the bowl
Dippin' sauce
Twist of cream in the brush
10 swirls in the bowl
5 swipes across my hand
Spreading my fingers to show the density
Retiring the Shavemac for future use.
So how is it?
Decent Almond Scent, but...
When my lovely lady presented me with this as a present for X-MAS, I was shocked...
This is not the same product I remembered from C&E. It "used" to come in a drab box, with a jar identical to the 3 T's... nothing special. Now it comes in a gorgeous box worthy of displaying, in a GLASS jar... REALLY has a great overall appearance.
The Jar the cream comes in is simply gorgeous... well as far as shaving cream jars go
Now the serious...
