What's new

BRAND NEW Copper Lather Bowl - tell me what you think!!

It reminds me of (dark) hand hammered cymbals.

As a drummer I can really appreciate this comment. Here is one of my cymbals with the light reflecting off of it:

it's more - in lack of better words - interesting than the plain one.

We spent six months with prototypes getting our two original bowls just right. Customers have loved them ever since.

I will say that I have done some test marketing of sorts with probably a dozen people on Obsidian. First they opened a box with our Heavyweight copper bowl. They handled it and commented about how remarkable it is to hold a handcrafted item like that. Then I handed them a second box with the Obsidian copper bowl in it. To a person they had similar responses: “OH!!” and “WOW!!” were most common with raised eyebrows. They would go on to remark about how classy it looks, etc.

That's pretty much my reaction to everything I've purchased from the Captain! 😁

The voyage took allmost the same time as actually sailing

Comments after first use

Feels just good in my normal/small hands. Oh and it looks good!

The ridges work very well.

The bowl floats in hot water with great heat conducting and enough buoyancy to keep the rim clear. That is going to be nice in winter!

Side notes for further development

The compass makes a nice thumb hold . But it’s weight makes the bowl float lopsided. Maybe stamp one in the center. For neat nitpicks it sticks out in the inside bit does not hamper my lathering is a asymmetrical to the eye.
This is the heavy bowl and with a brush it floats just. And if your brush rolls a bit it is going down.
Maybe a brush indentation to the opposite side of the thumbrest.

We probably also need a captains brush scuttle….

Yes it floats
And yes you can make lather on the bottom sharper profile, would be interesting to see which performers better 😂

It's about time for me to switch over to the scuttle for the season. The copper is my warm weather go to, but my face needs a bit of warmth.

I hoped the copper captain retained enough heat. But my 2 lb stone mortar wins on this. Still a nice bowl though.
Might think of a brush scuttle (high, narrow) which is not a lather scuttle (low, wide) But that will have to wait until I want a stash of (preshave) soap from the same company who sells them.
