Also got mine off UK e-bay. In your search also type in Art Deco. They're invariably described like that because of the cases.
Had shave #5 with the 1912 last night. This time I used a PAL carbon steel blade. Wow, it was as smooth as the GEM SS blade -- maybe even smoother, if that's possible. Great shaving experience!
Just out of curiosity, what is the mildest or "forgiving" SE razor -- a Gem 1912, FeatherWeight, Ever Ready, or something else?
Many people here will say the 1912; I can't attest to that because I don't have one (yet). Of the three Gems I have, the Featherweight is the mildest.

I find the Featherweight and the Push Button to be the mildest of what I have tried. I've not yet tried the Contour, but have heard that is also mild.
