What type of razor do you prefer?

Vintage SE Razors

I own two razors:

1. A Shovel head
2. A 1912 Gem

The Shovel head is my daily driver.

The 1912 is my backup/travel razor. I also use it when I just want a change of pace.

The only use two blades:

1. PAL Blue Carbon
2. Personna SS PTFE

It doesn't have to help anyone. I just want to know where the trend is going. Looks like the trend is to DE razors.

I only have double edge razors now and blades for them are readily available; for a close daily shave the DE razor delivers the results at reasonable cost.
I would not go back to a cartridge but have a cartridge razor if needed in an emergency.

Double edge all the way. Usually an L1 Gillette Slim that was my grandfather’s. Sometimes a black handled Slim that was made in the early 1970s. My travel razor is a Merkur 15c. I also have a Dreadnaught Shavette that I use to trim around the edges of my mustache.

Primarily DE for my face, though I used shavettes for all of last month (SABERtember theme), and still mix it up to include a SR once in a while.

For my head shaves, 100% single edge (Vector and Hawk Eco).

I guess when I take my headshave into account, and occasional SR and shavette usage on my face, the sum of my shaves is probably 50-50 DE and SE.

So far it looks like the DE is the favorite. I also enjoy both DE and SE but lately I have been using a SE, Leaf Thorn razor.

I use double edge the most - my shaves are divided about 80% double edge, 10% single edge, and 10% Feather Artist Club.

This is me, but upside down.

80% straight edge, mostly Shavette’s, 10% DE, and maybe more like 5% SE and 5% Cart.
