What if... Prohibition was reinstated?

With the way the economy is these days, they would never prohibit the production or sale of alcoholic beverages, they would just slap more "sin" taxes on it.

The problem is that any moron can cook up a batch with goods bought from pharmacies and hardware stores without too much effort. Making meth safely, efficiently, and stealthily is an entirely different exercise and requires some skill.

Considering the marijuana situation where I live (Humboldt County, CA for anyone who knows it), I think prohibition would mean very little beside everyone setting up a still next to their grow operation.
 
One would think that the Prohibition years and the dismal failure of the "war on drugs" illustrate the futility of prohibiting vice. It seems some folks view a different approach as condoning the practices or somehow giving in.
Its been said time and again that the war on drugs is really a war on people. Like many other government-controlled boondoggles, things that appeared to be good ideas blossomed into impossible situations that sometimes produce results opposite the beginning goals. Somehow, this stuff happens over and over...
