Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleansing Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: P.A.A. Sacrรฉ Bleu

I know, I know, opening day was yesterday but I didn't shave yesterday. I shaved today. So, in honor of Major League Baseball, Opening Day, and my team, the Dodgers, I dedicate this shave.

I don't have a ton of blue shaving gear but I just so happened to have both Sacrรฉ Bleu software and the I.I.S. Travel Scuttle from Phoenix Shaving. This worked out perfectly for today's Dodger blue theme.

If you don't know, Sacrรฉ Bleu is an homage to Aqua Velva and is incredibly good! The scent, the lather, the cooling effect, the post-shave feel... All are outstanding!

If you're even a little bit of a fan of Aqua Velva, do yourself a huge favor and jump on this one. What Phoenix Shaving has done with this software is remarkable and shouldn't be missed. It's just that good!

I busted out the travel scuttle for this fine occasion as it was the perfect choice. It's small, I'll give you that. But it's more than capable of helping you create a great lather as you can see.

I used my Yaqi Ocean for obvious reasons and did a three-pass shave. With the efficiency of the Blackbird Dart, there was no way I was walking away from this shave with anything less than a bbs.

I rounded the bases on this shave and came home with some matching Sacrรฉ Bleu aftershave/cologne. I'm sitting here shaking my head and smiling because if you don't know how good this stuff is, you're really missing out.

So, the boys of summer are back and another great shave is in the books. Take care my friends, enjoy your shaves, and let's โ€œplay ballโ€!

Rich, creamy, and slick lather from this soap. The scent is usually strong but my olfactory sense is 100% muted...dang!
This razor with an initial cnat edge was put through the HBA and the roo leather. The shave was at an acceptable level of smoothness and comfort but I prefer a crispier keener edge. Will continue to work on the edge with the HBA without going through the diamond balsa. The result for today's shave was dfs-sas...

(Face Head/Dome shave)

(German DE razor focus)

A new shave set up to start the weekend.. maiden shave with the new Wilkinson Sword Synthetic brush my second shaving related purchase of 2023, my first was the batch of Statum Platinum Chrome blades in February and before the paranoid over-zealous ban on DE blades from eBay sellers. I gave it a quick wash & rinse in washing up liquid, rinsed it in warm water, then a wash with Dettol anti bacterial soap to remove any nasties ,then a final rinse to remove any loose fibres...I love the stubby design of the WS handle the cloud soft synthetic knot doesn't have a great deal of backbone, but it gets the job done with acceptable results and dries in a short space of time ready for use. This will make a great travel brush.

For the next month and beyond I'll be using my German made razors, along with my new recently tried Muhle R41 & randomly adding my adjustable DE razors as a "Adjustable April" theme pairing them together with various DE blades from my vast collection. Starting with the Statum Platinum Chrome which i find equal with the Treet 7-Day platinum...Both blades are incredibly smooth & efficient enough to give me 2-3 (max) comfortable error free shaves.

Out of curiosity i done a combined face head/dome shave with the Frankenrazor which was a total success. I think the hefty weight of the Schmidt R10 handle could be the reason to why the Frankenrazor works rather than the Yaqi Mellon top cap?.. I will do a comparison shave during the week using the original Muhle top cap & the Schmidt R10 handle to see the difference in the shave performance.

Another close comfortable face and head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Cien Men Sensitive ASB.

My face & precious swede are feeling super smooth & smelling divine. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Brush: Highlander M7 Style
Soap: A&E The Novelist
Razor: Koraat 6/8
Post: A&E The Novelist & HDP 1899

Excellent shave this morning, again fresh edge from JJShave and very good. Seemingly it was high time it was done properly! I get the feeling that I'm moving away from the wedge/near wedge blades...oh no I can see a visit to the configurator coming on!

Now the brush, phwoar, this handle is top notch. Bigger than the standard M7 so obviously heavier and fits my hand like a glove. This will not be my only Highlander brush, assuming Gile doesn't mind that is.

The knot is good, very dense and look at that bloom! Setting is spot on, you do almost have to tickle the soap rather than mash otherwise it disappears into the void, this isn't my first rodeo with a boti knot though.

Hope everyone has a grand day!

Cheers

Marc

Too the moon Alice! Kicked off Vintage April and Adjustable April during USA week and King Gillette Weekend! Decided to go all out on this one with as vintage and USA as possible. I didn't have a vintage cream but Barbasol as a brand is Vintage enough for me and still made in the USA. At least the can says that. Everything else was very Vintage and very much made in the US.

Only got 2 weepers on the head and 3 on the face. Not bad for a blade almost 100 years old. That was my first time using a vintage blade and didn't realize how stiff they were. As soon as the top cap hit the blade there was a very noticeable spring like resistance.

I twisted back a 1/4 turn for the sides of my face and went at it. I didn't know what to expect but holy cow it can shave! Was fine going WTG but ATG it tugged A LOT.

Snugged the blade back down for the neck and went super slow here. I pulled my skin as tight as I could and went WTG as much as humanly possible. Still got lots of tugged as my hair grows every which way around my neck. But I got through with a couple weepers.

I went ahead and twisted back an 1/8 turn to get under the nose and attack the chin wires. WTG and XTG on the nose. I should have stuck with just WTG as XTG hurt like heck and drew one more tiny weeper. The chin I went with WTG and ATG with no drama besides lots of tugging.

For the head I went slooooooow. Pulled my skin tight and snugged the blade down. WTG, XTG and said that was good enough. Surprisingly, only got two weepers that weren't bad at all.

Will I ever do this again? Nope, probably not. But that was one heck of a fun experience.

This is the third shave with the Feather/Feather combo and was nice, smooth, close, and comfortable. This is the 61st shave using the MdC soap. As usual, the lather was slick, rich, and plentiful. The Kent as always did a great job of making lather. A perfect shave. The PAA Mysterium Serum is no more. The ASB is nice but I found it a tad too greasy. Have a great day.
