Nivea Menmalist Liguid Cream - Leaf Razor - Khaltat al Jabriya

A possible hospital visit in the offing so I thought I would try something mimimalistic and fast. The cream is not brush friendly....but was incredibly easy to use and very very slick. The result was excellent.

Since the blade I was using cracked, I switched razors today. The Merkur 37C was next in my rotation. I loaded the razor with a Wizamet blade. The result was a shave that was close and still smooth. The brush today is one of my favorite synthetics: the Omega EVO. This is an extremely dense brush. Although it is soft on my face, it still loads sufficient soap and makes an excellent lather. The Williams soap is on its 66th use. A perfect BBS shave on a beautiful, sunny Sunday. Have a good day and week, folks.

SOTDs From INDIA
  • These SOTDs were brush-less. I am becoming good at using Shavette: now only half of the face has irritation, that too quite less. When I put alum then aftershave then on right side cheeks I can't even feel anything, as if there was no touch of any blade there. Yippy!
  • Neck is still difficult. Hair grow in 7 different directions there (yes, I counted, I mapped my beard). Then neck has its own contours which are somewhat difficult to do with a very straight and open blade. Still, got no cuts. Got 2 razor bumps though in each SOTD
  • The only cuts I got were from accidental/unsafe handling of the razor, not from shaving. I finished shaving right side of my face and then shifted the razor from my right hand to left hand and cut a part of my neck there while moving it. Barber's razor does not care about you if you lost your focus for a second.
  • This NIVEA aftershave is awesome 10 out of 10 rating from me.
Rest everything was amazing. I have gotten much better in just 10 shaves (14 if you count the four shaves I did back in Jan 2023).

Happy SOTDs

SOTD From INDIA

After enjoying my Barber's razor SOTDs, I finally decided to get back to DE razor because a DE razor is what I loved most. Here is what I learned:
I became good at putting less pressure. For 1 year, I used a few DE razors and could not get myself to use less pressure. Heck, I was thinking I was putting less pressure, that I have a very light hand. Can;t be more wrong. I noticed today, I used to put too much pressure. So, barber's razor cured this 20+ years old cartridge-induced habit.

Both DE razor and barber's razor are still very different things. One is a beast that will cut you without caring for you while the other tells you why the name "safety razor" was used. It's really safe.Did not have a single nick. Did get some irritation though. I left lather at many places because the hand got used to barber's razor so much that I was unable to even hold the DE razor properly. Fingers and hand just wouldn't co-ordinate. I will get there in a few more shaves.

I mapped my beard and now trying to do WTG in 7 different directions on the neck :p . Barber's razor taught me how to be patient with the neck. Don't just put the DE razor and slide it from up to down.

Loving my DE razors...

Razor: 1947 Knockout
Blade: FlyDear (10)
ASL: Caffè Latte [home brew]

An excellent shave.

Every single member of today's software and hardware team is a star.⭐ I'll move on from the FlyDear blade next shave (due to being fickle and liking variety), but I've had ten excellent shaves from it and I'm sure there are plenty more excellent shaves left in it.

Happy shaves guys. :cornut:

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm AC with a Yaqi Milano 316SSP handle. Mfg 2021>, mild range to tame mid range. Small head parts, I assemble on wash cloth for convivence so not drop parts. Simple clamping design of blade makes for good results + very affordable for most when just buying the head or razor. Works well with all AC blades IMO. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Schick proline (4) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : La Toja stick, very mild clean scent (smoky?) with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Casino clubs" 26mm Timberwolf synthetic. Excellent lather generator, luxury heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
