What's new

Now Old Spice makes more sense

I just did not get the attraction many here have for old O.S. The stuff was okay but...anyway, now I know why I wasn't too impressed. Until today, all I'd ever smelled was the aftershave version, never the cologne. This morning I found an old 2.5 oz bottle at a church rummage, then a 4 oz old bottle at one of my usual haunts. Despite their ages, both have a MUCH stronger and longer lasting scent than the NOS A/S versions I just sold to a fellow member.

Still don't think it'd be something I wear regularly - I'm still kinda meh about it - but now I do see the attraction.

My dad is now recovering at home from having half a lung removed...needs cheering up, naturally. He used to wear the stuff waaaaaay back, so I'm gonna see if some old O.S. does the trick.

Every time I see one of the older bottles, I think of my grandfather. I have a bottle myself but it's in the revamped plastic bottles and, although, I believe it smells the same, it doesn't elicit the same reaction.

I think my dad wore it now and then, but he always was, and is, an Aqua Velva Man.

But when I smell Old Spice today and see the bottle I recall when I wore it myself back in the late 80s and early 90s. It takes me back to.... Me!

I do like Old Spice quite a lot. I don't wear it these days, but I have a feeling that I will pick some up sometime soon.
