What's new

My wife lovingly thinks I'm nuts over my growing collection!! How about you?

I had an insane number of guitars and basses, amps and effects. And everything else to go with that. Wet shaving came along at a time when I had an epiphany about the insane senselessness of my guitar collection. So it basically slid right in and took over the serial collector part of my brain at a time when I needed it most. At a time when I needed to stop buying guitars. My wife had always been supportive of my music and my guitar collection. Even bought me a few guitars over the years. She’s the best. But compared to 80+ guitars, 25+ amps, hundreds of effects pedals etcetera, etcetera…. A couple of hundred shaving razors is nothing. She has zero issues with it. Even pretends to be interested when I tell her about my shave of the day! Like I said, she’s the best!
Good for you! I'm in the same boat with all my drums. Discovering wet shaving has become something that has stopped me from collecting drums. I enjoy it immensely, takes up little room and it's a lot cheaper!

We should jam sometime!

You just have to combine guitars and shaving somehow. A concept record about the history of DE razors for instance. Now THAT would probably be a sign that you've gone over the edge, perhaps.
Nice SG in your picture, by the way.

Cool and slimy
I got her a gigantic wardrobe with place for oodles of shoes and clothing and a gigantic mirror.

We are renovating the bathroom soon (tm) and maybe I will get some more brushes and soap when I have more space with new furniture. 😎

My wife uses a totally cheap TTO for her legs, this almost causes me physical pain.

Not made for these times.
At least she uses a DE. My wife still uses a disposable. I can’t get her to try a DE. To scary for her. But at least I got her a using a Gillette Guard now instead of an overpriced girl disposable razor.
My girlfriend uses the King C. Gillette cartridge razor which she purchased when she bought me my King C. Gillette DE razor. I keep suggesting she try the DE. :001_smile

My wife doesn't say much about my hobby nor do I with hers. I still have a long way to go to match what she spends on her antique cut glass collection, purse collection and all of her makeup. I show her all new razors, brushes, soaps etc so she can't ask where did that come from.

TTO, that is totally ok. My wife uses - god forbid - a cartridge … yeah yeah, I know I know, but I love her anyway. 😏

My wife loves it and hates it at the same time.

She loves it because she hates facial hair and loves it when i am clean shaven. And she knows that you get much closer, smoother shaves now than I ever did with a cartridge razor.

On the other hand, yesterday morning she texted me to ask me if I had spent $200 on something, to make sure it wasn't a fraudulent charge. When I texted back that yes, I had spent that money, she texted back 'another razor?' I could hear the exasperation in her voice just reading the text!

I promised to pay for it with sales, so watch the BST over the weekend. I'm going to have some good razors up for sale!

Do you want to clue us in so we can get in line?

Edit: within the Terms of Use, of course. I think it's permissible to say: I'm going to end up selling this or that razor, isn't it? without pricing, etc.?

I haven't made the final decisions yet.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure there will be at least three straight razors, one of which is an excellent starter, the other two of which are just great straights, period. For DEs, the most likely to be on the chopping block might be my beloved Pils razor. Thinking hard about a set of Karves and maybe even a Wolfman. Depends on my mood, lol. Keep your eyes peeled.

I'm impatiently waiting for two razors I ordered from Canada the other day to get here. I'm not actually planning on buying another DE until next year. But a Karve Outlander is on my finalist list.... that or a Blutt... or God forbid, a Rocnel Sailor. <eg>

I plan to buy just one modern DE next year and be done. These two on the way and my Flat Bottom Tech scratched my Vintage Gillette itch. I love the Flat Bottom Tech.... it's such a nice razor.

Our society has long been gynocentric in nature.

1. Between 80 and 90 percent of consumed items are marketed towards women.

2. Since the 1960s, television series have portrayed men as idiots possessing neither intellect nor esteem.

3. The concept of running your own life shouldn't come as much of a surprise. (Was it only your parents that ran your life once you left home)? I'm certain that most men haven't been married since they removed themselves from their parent's homes.

4. Since the "Women's Movement" of the 1960s made an effort to "liberate" themselves from "male domination" it is strange how many women still marry to be supported and demand spousal support when their 'dreams' don't become reality. This doesn't seem very "liberated" at all, they're either living off the proceeds of their estranged spouses or the Government dole.

5. I have truly "liberated" them by not supporting their "lifestyle". (They can earn their own living).

I learned to think for myself and deal with things on my own. I thought most men learned to live on their own without having to be influenced by anyone. Thinking and dealing with life on your own terms should mean more than the requisite 'yes, dear.'

I do not kowtow to public opinion nor need someone to "encourage" me to think as they think.

Thank you.
Married 43 years and that's been my take on things from day one and long before. Save for large purchases where we need some common ground, she buys what she wants, I buy what I want. Money hasn't been an issue for us. She had a career, I had a career. We have joint accounts and, obviously, separate retirement accounts. Life is so much easier for us than so many who live lives of quiet desperation doing what they're told by outsiders and wokeism.
