just curious about something

i first saw it here and then noticed it in stores when i went looking...some cartridge razor companies still make cartridge heads but no longer make the handle (atra II is one that comes to mind).
why is that? granted, some people still have the handle, but for any new shaver what do they expect us to do?
doesn't make sense to me. just wondering.

They want you to buy the new razor handle and the more expensive newer blades. Remember, they are in the blade business, not the handle business.

The still make parts for old cars. why turn away bullishness when there is a profitable market that requires zero advertising?
