Is This Glue Ok?

Hey everyone,

As a part-time bike mechanic I have an ample abundance of these glue packets. It's used to glue a star nut sleeve into the fork steerer tube. The owners have decided to mainly use an expansion type star nut rather than the glue for simplicity but will use the glue is the client requests it.

Is this stuff ok to use to glue in the knot?

Thanks!

I haven't seen that particular variety before, but I would expect that it works just fine. My only question is the color...does it dry clear or is it opaque and or tinted? I prefer a clear-drying, colorless epoxy in case any gets squeezed up into the knot. That being said, if you're very careful and don't use too much, then the color is a non-issue.

Which one do you personally use?

I've been using the Devcon 5-Minute Epoxy in the two-part syringe. Works great for the small amount I need for gluing in knots.

Your epoxy will work fine. Make sure you use equal parts resin and hardener and mix it well (2 min). You won't need to much either.

That Hardman Epoxy is really good stuff. I have made probably 5 brushes using it and they are all holding great. I also soak my brushes in Very hot water and have had no issues whatsoever.

I use the same stuff to make golf clubs too and have never had anything shake loose.

I have ample access to Double Bubble as well. I would not use it for a shave brush!! I have on a few and I have had the knot fall out of one that I keep in the shower and use daily. I think the package even says not for use in wet environments.
