Floris Vetiver, Discontinued!

Hi,
I was in the Floris shop on Jermyn St. last week, and the lady told me that Vetiver was being discontinued. I saw this on the website as well, and she told me reluctantly after prompting her. We need to get a bombshelter full of this stuff! Hopefully they discount it, because at 50 pounds, its getting up there. Just thought I would let you guys know.

I wouldn't say that was entirely accurate, at least, not to my nose. It's at least as strong as RdV to me, and aside from the basic similarity between most Vetivers, there's not much of either that reminds me of the other.

I'm good and stocked, though. I'll let my fellow B&B'ers do all the hoarding.

I confirmed this in an e-mail exchange today with an on-line Floris sales rep. She also told me that Floris still has some bottles in stock, and they are available on-line on sale for 25 (sorry, I don't know how to make the English currency symbol), which I think is half-price. The cost of shipping to the U.S. is prohibitive, but for you gents in the U.K., this would be a good time to stock up while they last. She also said she would send samples of their other products to a U.K. address.

I did check in British Isles here in Houston, and they are out, and won't be able to get any more!

I really appreciate the heads-up on this one. I was planning to get this in the fall, but no reason to wait now. The shipping costs are a bit high but the discount offsets that. This is a blind buy for me, but I´m fairly confident I won´t be dissappointed.

I don't think you will. If you have even a passing fancy for vetivers, the Floris can't be beat.

You got that right - Shipping costs on their site is so much higher than other companies will charge you - which is already quite pricey! I once declined an order from GB because of the high shipping cost of 25 GBP which made the good deal just a standard order - could get the items for the same price shipped here in the US. GBP 60 is about $100!!

Well, DHL delivered my Floris parcel today. I almost smashed the bottle of Vetiver on my bedroom floor while I was unwrapping it. Thanks to my lightening fast reflexes, I ended up with an intact bottle but a large gash on my foot where I cushioned the fall

I have only my initial impression, but the scent seems very nice indeed. The vetiver note is much more pronounced than LdP´s version.

Some guy just sold a 95% full bottle on Basenotes for $40. I PM'd him but somebody sent a PM just before I did. I shed a little tear. The search continues...

Well, I just have to share this. I went into British Isles recently, a local store that I spend money in fairly regularly, where I have purchased EdT's including a bottle of Floris Vetiver that they ordered for me last year, to see if they had any FV left. The didn't, and said it was discontinued and they wouldn't be able to get anymore. I asked if they would sell the tester, which was a nearly full, full-size bottle, and they GAVE it to me!!! How awesome is that? Needless to say, I'll continue to do business there.

Well, I just have to share this. I went into British Isles recently, a local store that I spend money in fairly regularly, where I have purchased EdT's including a bottle of Floris Vetiver that they ordered for me last year, to see if they had any FV left. The didn't, and said it was discontinued and they wouldn't be able to get anymore. I asked if they would sell the tester, which was a nearly full, full-size bottle, and they GAVE it to me!!! How awesome is that? Needless to say, I'll continue to do business there.

It's definitely worth a visit. Their prices are, I would say full retail, but they carry a full line of TOBS, GFT, EJ, and Woods of Windsor, shaving soaps and creams, and TOBS, GFT, Woods of Windsor, and Floris EdTs. Probably a few other brands I'm not remembering. Also brushes and I believe now a few razors, possibly EJ's, but I'm not positive about the razors. They've increased their shaving related inventory quite a bit in the past six months. The folks in there might seem a bit snooty at first, but they're not, they're actually very nice, and helpful. They just don't hang around you and try to sell you things.

And for a broader, more eclectic range of shaving products and especially scents, don't forget Kuhl Linscomb on Alabama & Kirby. They carry many brands, including AOS and Musgo Real, as well as Diptyque - I picked up Tam Dao there - and many others. Ask for Terez.

I should have waited. I went for the plunge at full price in London. I really really like it though, and so does my wife. I assume my bottle will last me for a long time though!

Yeah, once I accumulated two bottles, I pretty much figured I had a lifetime supply.
