Finding natural and synthetic sheets to make custom scales for a little larger straight razor?

Besides checking out Hobby Lobby. I'm looking to make custom scales for a larger straight razor project. I'm considering micarta materials and clear colored plexiglass etc. Any pointers will be apricated.

Go to a place that makes signs and fittings for shops, and offer to trade beer for their 3mm acrylic offcuts. They probably have a bin full in various colours.

I've used plastic clip boards to make scales and even the plastic from a F-150 rear taillight lens that was rescued from the side of the road (heated in the oven slightly to flatten it) -- when I'm in a thrift store or my local Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, I keep an eye out for plexiglass or plastic "donor" items (a lot of plastic desk items in black or smoked color) of the appropriate thickness. Amazon also has plexiglass sheets as well -- I'm just naturally cheap and like to see things not as they are, but what they can be.
