Fatboy February

Heres my D-4 Fat Boy I just found yesterday in the wild. It was truly a filthy mess and looked like it hadnt been used for a decade, but I could still tell it was in decent shape and to my surprise it did clean up really good. A little cleaning, hand polishing, and adjusting the blade gap and I got this one back into great shape again. I used it last night with a fresh gillette platinum and got a darn fine shave. Im going to use this one for Fat Boy Feburary, though I will admit Im really going to miss the shaves from my Progress.

Wanted to thank Cap and edgar for a bit of info regarding a question I had about my new Fat Boy. Cap explained to me that the earlier D and E models came with nickel plated collets to them and that sometime in 1959 it had changed. It was nice to learn about this and I think I now prefer these earlier models.

Cap has mentioned a few times that there is definitely something a little more special about all the 58 models, and not just the Red Dots.

Wanted to add Ill be using the Fat Boy on setting 3 or 4 depending on my mood and or growth for the sides of my face then will turn it down to 1 or 2 to finish up against the grain on my upper lip. I like to adjust my adjustables to different settings for different areas of my face, just find I get the best results in doing it this way. So I guess Ill be using my Fat Boy on settings 3/4 and 1/2. Sure are getting a nice group of guys for this!

Since my 1960 F1 Fatboy is my favorite razor, this isn't a hard call; I'm in. Sometimes I feel like I have to force myself to use my other razors just to be fair. Lately I've been using my '49-'50 NDC Super Speed and since I've grown a full beard I'm only shaving every other day at most to clean up my neck and upper cheeks. I'm a two passer, starting the first WTG pass on 5 and then sometimes dialing up for my final ATG pass to 7.

No Captain Murphy treatment (didn't know it existed), I picked up this razor about two and a half years ago from Elmwood as a user grade Fatboy here on BST and have been very happy with it.

Yeah, once the month is over I was going to try and list some of those sorts of statistics. Oldest, Newest, Average, etc.
