What's new

F.O.C.S. Fiends

No, I'm curious for how it goes! I'm considering all blades I haven't tried for future acquisition disorders.
I read an old post here where folks said the Premiums were pretty good blades (where the Extra blades were not considered so).

So far, for posterity, I have tried with good results:

Shark Platinum
Astra SP
Treet Carbon Steel
Wilkinson Sword (German)
Feather (so effortless it’s scary but left me irritated)

I have here and have not tried:

Shark Chrome (suspect will perform well)
Derby Premium

Blades that were a dud:
Dorco Prime (suspect they would be a dud in any razor)

The premiums worked fine in my FOCS but there are better blades for me. They didn’t last long on my beard.

Mike, @Esox, got me to try Derby Extra in my Grande. They worked well and I went for ten shaves on one.

Got me a nice backpack to carry around the 🦊...

Well the Derby Premium blade worked well. I would put it as a little less efficient than a Shark Platinum or Super Chrome as well as the Astra SP.

It was smooth though and I will finish the Tuck up but at 5 cents ea the Shark Plats are hard to beat.

And on that note, I bought another 1000 Shark Plats from the same guy, $50 shipped. Should be good for a bit LOL with 2000 Sharks plus the rest of the random blades and a few 100 packs.

That's a good price on the Shark Platinums. Where did you get them? I went through razorbladeclub for mine.

I just got mine and I haven't shaved yet, but I tried to load a blade inside and I have to press the blade in order to get to the bottom of the cap and removing the blade also isn't very easy. Is that a common thing among with these razors? Otherwise mine looks perfect and I don't see any major cosmetic flaws or anything. Also, does it matter how I put the top cap with the safety bar? Should I just contact the seller and tell him about this and send him these photos to get a new razor?

I've tried with another blade (Astra SP) and the results are much better although the blade can still get stuck but it isn't that hard to remove it like it was with the first blade (Polsilver SI). Should I be worried or that might just be one case isolated case?

Many slants do the "blade grab" thing, and due to slightly differing blade dimensions it will vary.

Standard loading is:
  1. Cap on counter (pins up [and usually on a towel])
  2. Drop blade on cap (don't press it down)
  3. Drop baseplate on blade
  4. Screw handle on (don't worry about any noises)
