This morning's crapola shave:

Pre-shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Brush: RR 400 butterscotch noir
Soap: Fendrihan unscented, mug loaded and lathered
Razor: RR Lupo 58
Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)
Number of passes: 2, XTG
Touchups or buffs: no
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: yes, minor
Result: DFS (stubble ATG on neck)

This morning's shave was pretty nice. It was closer than yesterday's, so I'm doing something right. The Fendrihan soap is pretty nice, but you can tell it lacks tallow because it doesn't have that rich and luxurious creaminess that Arko and Stirling have. I had a little sting this morning, which I wasn't expecting. Very minor, but still present. Perhaps it's the product of a closer shave. Or maybe the lack of tallow. Or maybe planetary alignment in some distant galaxy.

Good morning my craptastic brethren. Today’s un’crappen’belivable shave was delivered by the Rocket 500 HD. Along with the Kai, the Rocket didn’t take any crap off the sea lions and buzz them a good one today. Cap riding from the get go today, as I usually shave at a steeper angle on the WTG and XTG passes. The Kai blades are rocketing to the upper tier of my blades. More details are in the link.

Today's crapawesome shave:

Pre-shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Soap: Arko, mug loaded and lathered
Razor: Baili TTO
Blade: Dorco ST301 Stainless (1)
Number of passes: 2, XTG
Touchups or buffs: no
Aftershave: Skin Bracer Old Spice and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: No
Result: CCS+/DFS- (stubble ATG on neck)

I needed a get right shave after having some unexpected irritation on and off this week. Was it the Nacet? Was it the noir fibers? Was it the menthol in the Skin Bracer? Was it the soap? Was it my technique? Was it planetary alignment? Was it a Voodoo hex cast on me by @blethenstrom?

I went with the combination that I knew would never hurt me (if you now have the Culture Club song in your head, you're right there with me), and the one that's listed above delivered without any issue. I'll try my best to figure out the irritation by slowing building up to the routine I want to use this summer, which is to rotate soaps, use a more aggressive razor, and finish with Skin Bracer. I hope it's not the Nacet because I just finished stockpiling over 400 of them. I liked them tremendously in the past without issue, but our skin can certainly change.

No pic today. Phone was charging and I was a bit too lazy to restage the scene afterwards.

Good morning my fellow crappy brethrens. Today’s shave was another great one for the Kai. Riding the cap on the touch up passes scared the crap out of the sea lions. They are buzz cut again. I did have some additional feedback from the alum block, but I was quite aggressive with my touch-up passes where I went after the problem fur patches.

@Jay21, I’m going to have to flush out the Culture Club with some White Snake Heat of the Night. Haha.

This morning's crapalicious shave:

Pre-shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Brush: RR 400 matte Plissoft
Soap: Arko, mug loaded and lathered
Razor: RR Lupo 72
Blade: Dorco ST301 Stainless (1)
Number of passes: 2, XTG
Touchups or buffs: no
Aftershave: Old Spice and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: No
Result: DFS (stubble ATG on neck)

Pretty nice shave this morning. I ended up loading a fresh Dorco into the Lupo because I was too clumsy while transferring the blade from the Baili and I ended up dropping it on the floor. I didn't want to risk any edge damage during my scientific testing of the cause of my recent irritation. The good news is I had absolutely no sting or feedback of any kind. I'm one step closer to solving the mystery. I really hope it's not the Nacets, but if it is, it is. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. I really like Nacets because they are super sharp and shave me a bit closer than other blades. The Dorcos are also nice as they cause no harm ever, but they aren't as sharp and leave just a touch more stubble feel behind.

Good morning my fellow crap talkers. This morning shave was a bit on the rough side. I the Kai’s defense, I did extra work on the sea lion fur patch area of my already sensitive neck. I shaved the crap out of the area, literally and likely much of the irritation is due to me being overly aggressive. But the blade may be loosing its edge as I was not more aggressive than yesterday. The result was a very smooth just about BBS all over shave. With some irritation.

Not a bad shave today. I had a little sting from the Old Spice. I'm not sure what's going on. I've noticed my whole body has been inflamed lately due to some mystery condition that no doctor or specialist can diagnose, so maybe the irritation I've been experiencing while shaving lately is another part of the great mystery. I may consider going back to canned goo for a bit until everything settles down. Soaps, if done right, leave me with virtually no sting. Canned goo leaves me without sting. The tradeoff is the closeness in shave.

Today’s shave was on the verge of being truly crappy. But I rolled the dice and didn’t hit craps. The Kai is most certainly a 3 shave blade for me. The last two shaves were quite rough. Today I used an abundance of caution and did no ATG work, only WTG and XTG work, and just two passes. On the last pass the blade was on the verge of biting. Just a hair off the threshold of pain. Yesterday’s shave was so close that two passes and no ATG work today yielded a satisfactory shave. No stock up on this blade because they are priced the same as the almighty GSBs and I easily get 5 shaves out of the GSB. Have a blessed Sunday.

This morning's crapalicious shave:

Pre-shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Brush: RR 400 butterscotch noir
Soap: Arko, mug loaded and lathered
Razor: RR Old Type
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Number of passes: 2, XTG
Touchups or buffs: no
Aftershave: Skin Bracer and Nivea Sensitive balm
Sting: None
Result: CCS+/DFS- (stubble ATG on neck)

This morning's shave took an unexpected twist. I hadn't used the RR Old Type since last July and I thought it was time to pull it out for duty again. My prep was good. The Arko lather was amazing. The Nacet was fresh. But, the shave was pretty rough. The razor didn't feel all that great on my face while cutting. There was also considerable tugging in some places. The shave was neither as close nor comfortable as yesterday's with the Game Changer 68P. I didn't have any sting from the Skin Bracer, which is good, but I don't think I need to use the Old Type again any time soon. It's odd because I seem to remember really liking the Old Type in the past. Maybe the Old Type isn't that bad of a razor and it's more so that the Game Changers and Lupos are that good and smooth. If I have them in my collection, there's no need to feel obligated to use the Old Type again.

It was a crappy shave, but not in the good crap way we like here.

Great thread and thanks for starting it. I think all your experience proves is that muscle memory can make it a challenge to swap razors and adapt within a few strokes.

Of course, this is coupled with different razors having different angles that we'd refer to as being neutral ;-) Then blade matching enters the picture.

I'm always torn about keeping razors where I experience what you did. I constantly doubt my technique, and periodically return to them.

The nagging question is when I've proven that they're either OK, or not for me. I hate unanswered questions ;-)
