Bronzebird from Blackland and the Workshop

Gentleman,

I know this razor have been discussed under one of the Brassbird thread, but I think it deserve to have it’s own thread.

Shane at Blackland have created the “Workshop”.

The Workshop is essentially a place where they will test unique materials, finishes, design concepts, and product categories. Products will be produced in limited Batches.

The first creation coming out of the Workshop is the Bronzebird. A Blackbird made in C954 bronze that come with a stand as a set coming in mirror polish finish.

Only 70 were produced and they came out today at 2pm (PT)/ 5pm(EST).

Here is a few pics…

And a small video, although I think the light/brightness of it can be improved…

Cannot wait to receive mine!

What are your thoughts on the Workshop and the first product being the Bronzebird?

Just received my notification that my package has been sent!

I think that the titanium one will remains my favourite, but the look of the Bronze one is just astonishing!
Agreed. I do like the Ti but couldn’t resist the bronze….awesome looking. I bought the stainless back when they first came out and really like it too but the e Ti has become my favorite.

Did you get yours in hand yet? I've been debating on jumping into this one for my first Blackland razor but have been pretty torn. Only have a Gillette Fatboy so far.

I've been torn between this one and a titanium one. It seems like a lot of folks seem to think the Ti ones are better than the regular blackbird
Correct. I have both and do like the Ti a bit more. Just something about it that just works better for me. The stainless is no slouch though. I think the lighter weight of the Ti makes it easier to control the amount of perceived blade feel.

I think in the Blackbird's case, yes, the Ti is better than the regular SS. To me it seems that because the geometry is so blade forward and efficient, the lighter weight and softer feel of the Ti tames it down a bit without loosing it's efficiency. I started with the SS with the standard plate then ended up with the Ti with both the standard SB and OC plates. I am also so tempted to get the Bronze version just because, well, it's Bronze and shiny! I'm having a difficult time resisting the urge to buy it now.
