Arko August Shave number fifteen today. Seeing it is Monday time for me to change razor and blade. Out with the Gold Gillette Tech with the Jaws Platinum and in with the Merkur 34C and a Treet Platinum. Not a bad start to the week. A pretty mild but good shave and let’s see how the Treet Platinum goes this week.

I used Arko (tub, not stick) yesterday for the first time since I was new to shaving as a hobby of sorts, probably 10 years or more, and I'm pretty impressed. The last time I used it I was experimenting with hardware quite a bit, and I blamed some of the skin irritation on the soap. I'm really glad I tried it again. I think a stick would be good for travel, because the price makes it almost disposable. I'm hooked!

This was my first time using this Micromatic TTO GEM of a razor, which I just received in the mail over the weekend. These SE razors can provide ridiculously close shaves, and today's shave was one of them. The BBS that I achieved was a three-pass affair with a couple weepers on the front of my chin, which was operator error. The La Toja balm (LOVE it) covered my mistake with ease. My shave was so close that I don't expect to feel any stuble until tomorrow night 
(we'll see). I also marvel at how comfortable the GEM SS PTFE blades are.

The G5C is a new synthetic brush. There are A, B, and C knots. My understanding is the C refers to a fan shape. I am happy to report that it has good mixing backbone and splays almost like a good badger. It is my favorite synthetic brush, but, boar brushes (once they are broken in) are very much on my radar.
I REALLY enjoy the scent of Arko. It is honestly fresh and clean in my book. It lathers easy in a bowl or on the face.
Yesterday I mentioned that I thought Personna blades were just average. Today, the blade performed excellent but I don't think I will get as many shaves out of them like I do with Astra Platinums.
