DE SOTD, Thursday May 16th 2024, #137 of 137/366 of daily shaves!

Razor : Yaqi SLOPE slant 316 SS with a Yaqi Brass nickel coated handle. Mfg 2023>, mild to tame mid range. Great machining and finish for my shaving needs. I always like using a slant because they are efficient and slicing action with a slant is excellent in theory and practice. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : GSB (1) sharp and smooth with reasonable . Top tier blade
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier, very nice unique Musk scent that turns my crank + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi " Lucky Casinos" 26mm synthetic Husky knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Witch hazel beard cleanse + Yaqi Musketeer Rapier + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 9.5.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my

Have some great shaves!

Shave #137 of 366 in 2024.
Another shave from the Canadian pass around box. The APShave Synbad is a very good brush, at least I think that's what this is.

That's a Slim Twist, isn't it? I had the use of one in the mid-1970s, but I only shaved once a week back then. I thought it was hopelessly mild, and preferred taking my chances of getting cut with the Old Type.

As a 366er, maybe I should dredge up a user-grade Slim Twist for a rematch.
Yes, I think it's called a Twist. It is a TTO but not adjustable. It is indeed very mild and much different than the Old Type. With a super sharp blade it might come to life. Perhaps I'll put a Feather in it.

...but this one IS cracked.

My son got me a Slim Twist for Father's Day a couple of years ago. It has the ivory handle just like my dad's had and though I don't use it much I often pull it out and have a look at it. It is very light with the plastic handle and can be a bit rough with some blades.

Shave#137 of 366 remaining 229(100%)

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge (20)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight I had another 3017 shave from Tabac, last night after my shave I pushed down the edges of the soap into the depression in the middle. I ended up with less than half the soap left so I am hopeful of seeing the end of it before long. The shave was decent, but the Sharpedge blade is definitely slowing down and my neck and jawline feel rougher when I've finished. I will keep going for another shave or two and see if things improve.

Thursday 16th May, shave #137

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 OC, Al Handle, Astra SP #2
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I tried the open comb Game Changer again. It's fun to use WTG, feels like it mows everything down more effectively than the safety bar, but using it every day gave me irritation the last time.

Today's was a comfortable DFS+, I avoided using it ATG on my neck, and got an acceptable result.

I think it was a present from a sister to my dad, and he (a classic example of the perfunctory shaver!) preferred his already worn-out Old Type, with half the nickel plate missing.

It is very light with the plastic handle and can be a bit rough with some blades.

If it's like the modern TTO I tried (the Wilkinson Chinese-made one), they don't nail the the blade down in the clamped way a Rockwell or Game Changer three piece does.

I was also thinking about it for nostalgia.

Summary. It's Friday and it is been a long time, so today is a Fatip Friday!! Of course it was a splendid shave. All comfort. All effectiveness. All rolled into one. Soap is very splendid as well - joy to lather and a joy to use.
