366 shaves in 2024
Shave#138 of 366 remaining 228(100%)

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge (21)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight it was another 3017 shave with Tabac and the Sharpedge/Rocca combo did the work. The shave was good but as I said yesterday the Sharpedge is losing its edge my neck was a little too rough. I am disappointed at only getting 21 shaves from this blade and was hoping for more

Friday 17th May, shave #138

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 OC, Al Handle, Astra SP #3
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I stayed with the open comb. It likes a shallower angle and less pressure than the safety bar. I got some user error on my chin, to remind me to pay attention to both.

Apart from that, it was a comfortable enough shave, like yesterday's.

Saturday 18th May, shave #139

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Cubebe
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 OC, Al Handle, Astra SP #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave

I used Cubebe for SV Saturday, and got the usual excellent bowl lather. The open comb Game Changer on its third day was still docile, although I got a hint of user error on my neck.

Two passes on my cheeks (skipping XTG) got as close as three passes with the safety bar.

SV Saturday

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette Blue 2 (1)
Brush: Muhle Rocca R94 STF
Soap: Tabac
A/S: CK IN2U
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight for SV Saturday I pulled out the Opuntia and after getting rid of the Sharpedge blade yesterday I switched to my last Gillette Blue 2 today. It is a long time since I used one of these so I don't know what to expect from it. If the results of tonight's BBS finish are anything to go by then it should be good at least for a few shaves.

Fatip Piccolo
Lord Super Chrome (8th use)
Riva 26mm horsetail
Proraso Green

This blade & razor combo is really excellent and the unique horse hair brush continues to impress. A fantastic shave finished off with a healthy glug of Proraso Green for the sensation and a little bit of Proraso Red for the scent 🙂

I’m not home most Sunday mornings making Sunday the day I don’t use my Ti Bird or MdC soap. I will usually use the same DE razor or Gem razor for the life of the blade (4 or 8) before selecting a new razor. The synthetic brush is also good for being away from home and doesn’t need to be pre-soaked.

The 1912 Gem has become my favorite Gem razor and while not the Ti Bird, is still a pleasure to use.
