First things first: @GaryTha, I am glad you are feeling better and are back online. I have appreciated your statistical updates throughout the sabbatical. Thank you.
Now on to the hard part. I must confess that I have fallen. Today I gave in to an excellent deal on a polished Blackland Vector, saw it right here on our own BST forum. I have had my eye on the Vector pretty much since it came out. Today I seemingly just caved. Seemingly ...
In truth, today was the just the concluding formality. My real downfall happened when I learned about an upcoming Carolina wet shaving meetup. I read about it online; since I am not sure about the rules concerning links to other forums, I'll just mention this much:
I had attended the 2017 Carolina meetup in Raleigh and had a great time. Naturally I decided that I wanted to go to this one too. Soon after that decision I started feeling like that one soldier in the war movie who just knows that his ticket is up, that he is not coming home.
- Venue: Gibb's Hundred Brewing Company, 504 State Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27405
- Time: 12pm-3pm on Sat Sept 21, 2019
Think about it: vendors will have all manner of goodies there, soaps and aftershaves available for all scent sampling I can handle. Did I believe I could attend such an thing and not stray from the sabbatical? Not really. In my heart I had already fallen. When I saw @wetshaver_GA 's deal on the Vector, I thought "I'm dead in a month, whatever ..." and pulled the trigger. Made it for five month in the 2018 sabbatical, eight months this year. Third time's the charm??
Some of you may remember that I decided to make the sabbatical 'more interesting' by pledging to PIF a tub of Martin de Candres soap if I fell by the wayside. I'm good for it.
Everyone still on Sam Spade's team as of @Pepin 's most recent tally (myself excluded) is eligible. If you want in on it the drawing, please PM me with the subject line "MDC PIF". I think it will be better that way rather than cluttering this thread with "I'm in" posts. I'll wait for a week to give people time to respond, and announce the winner on Sat 14 Sept. CONUS only, because shipping that brick out of the continental US would be absurdly expensive.
Carry on, gentlemen, keep fighting the good fight Meanwhile, I may have to drown my sorrows at some joint called "Maggard's".
If I get my promotion before the end of the year, I can only hope the Wunderbar is out of stock, or sadly I will be joining you and the many others.
