2019 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - The Maltese Falcon Razor

Lol. That was ages ago. Made me giggle.
Seven months down - five to go. Easy peasy. Once you've done a few years of restraints there's not much that tempts you.
My 3017ing of the PdP No 63 is going to take a while - I'm roughly three months in, minus some vacation time when I used a soap stick, and there's very little noticeable progress. I need to start shaving everyday again to speed this up

I’ve been using Proraso green pretty heavily in my rotation and can now see the bottom. After that I’ll be down to 7 soaps (plus a vintage Williams that I’m sure one day I’ll try). I think I’ll buy a holiday scented soap and see if any LE Stirling scents on Black Friday tempt me. Other than that, I’m already set for next year!
#52 still in with no temptations. I find as the year is progressing it's getting easier.
Vespasian (#11) still in, with one big want: I am almost out of 4711 cologne, which I use regularly as an AS splash. Help! Can I make if without for five months?
Just put up 2k+ board ft of maple that I had cut down and turned into 3" slabs. The big ones are 4'+ wide and 11-12ft long. The little ones are one 7-8ft long and 2-3ft wide. SWMBO has started identifying various slabs for various uses... I am going to use a couple of the big ones to make a large dining table for the dining room and another table for the covered porch that can be combined for big family holidays.
I assume that if I buy stones to sharpen hand planes but might also be useful for kitchen knifes and maybe a straight or two... I would not be out. My thoughts are that it might be next year (or probably several years) before I get enough free time to try and hone that fleebay razor and the stone(s) will be primarily to sharpen stuff in the woodshop. OTOH if the ruling says I would be out then I can probably wait a while as the wood needs to dry ... more....

I would say if purchased for woodworking purposes, you’re good.
I had fleas recently (in my house) and was getting bitten. I bought some witch hazel/jojoba gel, to soothe the bites.
I haven’t yet, but may use it on my face after I shave.

Ok, as long as the stones stay in the woodshop and the straights stay in the house everything is fine. Realistically it might be 2021 (or later) that I get around to buying the stones. I currently use plate glass/sandpaper and seem to have good results with my planes and chisels. In addition it will take the wood year (or three) to dry sufficiently to start working with it.

I have found that over the last few years my process is simplifying and I no longer use alum or any pre shave products. I now do 1.5-2 passes and my soap and blades seem to be lasting much longer. I probably could go about ten years without needed to purchase anything and if I keep simplifying I could probably go longer than that.

I’m out. But I am very happy that I participated for the past 7 months. It gave me some quiet time to reflect on what I really like and what I really want. I expect my purchases going forward will be much less frequent and much more targeted than they were last year. So, thanks for the support, gents!

Took me a minute to figure out "BC" was "Sue Moore". That is one of the things allowed, just making sure everyone realizes that.

Rukin: You are at least three years out for using that wood, so I'd not go crazy buying stones just yet. Might be a little less if you can store it in heated conditions in the winter, that tends to pull the moisture out. Otherwise, it will shrink in use and warp, not something you want in a dinning room table.
Make sure it's well stickered and there is no bark -- powderpost beetles lay through the bark and will make a terrible mess with maple unless you can get it hot enough to kill them.
