2021 Shave Purchase Sabbatical - Shave Trek

More Deep Thoughts than Jack Handy
I'm amazed at the pull I feel to buy stuff...even after I get a perfect shave with what I have. The fight continues!

Today's shave...in a word...perfect!

I have changed my mind about the sharpness of this blade. One careless pass this morning with what I perceived as a less than sharp blade resulted in three small nicks. In point of fact, these things are very sharp, they are just so smooth that you don't really notice how sharp they are. Still a great shave today with Shark Super Stainless(2) and Vitos soap.

Still in no temptations !

@Its just me Ash
I'm also new to wet shaving (proper) and I have done enough splurging in December month, last year on soaps to last me a few years.
If you have enough shave supplies, then it is a good time to work on technique.

I'm getting good shaves, when I switch the items and I'm back to atrocious shaves.

Purchasing new shave items will make us feel good for a few hours on one or two days, but good technique will help us feel good all day long for weeks (until we suffer a bad shave).

Make someone your GRUME buddy and share your urges before you go ahead with any purchase.

I know I'm struggling every day with all the things that I want (not need), good luck with your self discipline.

Today's SOTN :5/10

Razor : RR Game Changer OC 84
Blade : Gillette 7 O'clock Black (2)
Brush : Omega 10098
Soap : Trigodon Wild Seas
A/ S : Alum Bloc and Anherb ASC

...but this one IS cracked.
Razors can last a lifetime. Brushes will last many years. A pack of 100 blades will last at least a year, maybe two or more depending on your technique and how often you shave. A puck of soap or tub/tube of cream can last a few months.

Before you find yourself staring at a drawer or shelf full of shaving products, I suggest you spend a little time perusing the 3017 thread.

I really wish I had spent more time on my technique when I started and less time acquiring stuff. Lesson learned.
Very wise words, I'm spending time on the 3017 thread using up soaps and creams

Overcast & Breezy Tuesday Night Shave:
Fatip Slant Piccolo
Gillette Platinum (2)
Yaqi Purple Haze / Mew Brown synth brush
365 glycerin soap wash

Notes:
  • Tabac is an amazing soap; the scent I am still getting used to
  • Shave results with the new Fatip Slant Piccolo are improving
  • Gillette Platinum blades seem to be a good match with the Fatip Slant, very smooth
