What's new

Would it be worth it?

At a local antique mall there are a couple items that caught my eye, and I thought I'd check if they would be worth picking up.

First, there was an old (i mean OLD) str8 with very nice bone scales, but a pretty rusty (surface, not deep) blade. I'd say it was less than 5/8, full hollow ground, and I wish I'd noted the brand, but the blade felt like paper, was probably not salvageable for shaving. It did have it's original box although not in perfect shape either. Asking price was $20.

Second, there was an old shave stick tin, with two smaller shave stick tins nested within. Tins were in pretty good shape, but I don't know if that type of thing is refillable? Also asking $20 for all three tins.

Any opinions on if these would be worth picking up and trying to refurb the razor?

I'm no expert, and certianly with out a name - It'd be hard to say if it would be worth $20. I just picked up a Dubl Duck with surface rust and ratty scales at my local antique mall - I bought it for $1. I'm not sure if its restorable but for a dollar I figured what the heck!

BTW - I love your mini e30

Thanks! It's a 318is with Dinan Stage 2 suspension. Fun! (I PS'd it short for the fun of it.)

NICE. 2 of my friends have e30 m3's that I drool over, both heavly modded, caged, 1 silver and 1 white - both on black wheels. I would probably give up shaving for life for one of those cars!

I'm a GTI guy myself but I love all german cars.

I had an '89 M3 for a while, but found it to expensive (in more ways than you might expect) for a daily driver, which is what I needed. The 318is is a great substitute that has a, uhm, shall we say, a softer edge...
