Williams works?

I have had terrible luck with Williams since I started shaving with it. I got airy transparent lather every time. Today, I got my Omega 30005 boar brush back from my GF and tried the lather again. I finally got thick, yogourt-like consistency with this soap! I don't know exactly how thick/good this is by B&B standards, but it looks opaque and thick to me. Now I can stock up on a ridiculous amount of pucks!

all that really matters is that you can shave with it and don't get irritated and dried out afterward as long as that the case then shave with williams as much as you want and don't let others sway you.

On a side note though there are definitely better shave soaps out there but really it is the difference between economy and luxury and is more effected by your current monetary situation but considering how cheap shave soap is over time and how long it lasts you probably aren't saving much.

TL:DR keep using williams but at least try some other shave soaps you might find something you like better but watch out for SAD luckily I am immune and haven't caught it yet maybe they can reverse engineer a cure from me.

That lather looks good to me. Once you get the "knack" of using Williams, it's some great stuff (especially for the money).

I've been a TABAC guy for months, but have had a persistent, irrational and stubborn desire to get Williams to lather right, for whatever reason.

That looks pretty good for Williams. I would definitely think you would get sufficient glide from that lather to get an irritation free shave. You can see some large bubbles in that lather. I would say I can get a larger volume of lather than that, but I'm not sure it's any denser.

I've gotten the best results with Williams by working up my lather right on top of the puck in the mug, rather than loading my brush with soap and taking it to a separate lather bowl.

Williams is the best!

Hmmm, I think you missed one of these: :001_rolle in your post!

I can get a good lather with Williams. Not the best, but hell it's 99 cents a puck at the local grocery store. I don't use it terribly often, but I keep a puck around with the VdH and break them out from time to time.

Williams blows. The only lather you can get with it is the one you'll work yourself up into trying to make this puck o' suck do anything but smell like citronella while it gives you nicks and weepers just looking at it.

(Just channelling the real Seraphim, since the Williams loving Seraphim changeling is giving me the creeps)

C'mon guys...

With a little all natural filtered glacier spring water, a boar bristle brush, soaking the puck for an hour and a half, scrubbbing, SCRUBBING, and a shot of KMF it is the easiest, richest lathering soap available at any price. Really just fantastic.:thumbup1:

Never had a problem with Williams. It's not my favorite since I loooooooove a good scent and William just doesn't have much. But lathering in the mug with a boar brush works pretty well. And it's cheap and easy to find. Heck, 99 cents a puck? If it works for you, you're in cheap shave heaven.

I as well, however I get a sense of it being wasteful.

Who needs all these fancy-schmancy soaps, with "cushion", and glide?

In my day, we lathered up with Williams with water from out back in the trough.

The lather was thin and the razor would skip across our whiskers, until the edge cut deep into our skin, and that's the way we liked it!

We loved it! Whoopee! Happy day!

We at least we knew we were shaving, because we were bleeding.

Not like these guys with their pretty Tabaccy smelling soaps that lather up easy as pie and give you a blood free shave. Hell no! Unless you had half a roll of toilet paper stuck to your face, you were some kind of pretty boy who needed to get a whuppin' out back o' the shed!

Brilliantly said. :thumbup1:

I've tried a few soap and creams: AOS, Irish Moos, Arko, VDH, Martin de Candre, Proraso, and Williams. Honestly, I have not gotten any better shaves than when I use Williams. I'm not sure what it is, but I suspect it is the Tallow. It is the only tallow soap I've tried. I used the same setup two days in a row, the only difference was the soap. When I used Williams I had a much closer shave, and absolutely no irritation. I used Clubman Bay Rum After Shave and had no burn at all!!! That really surprised me.
